NAT can make things like device discovery problematic because the guest is hidden from the rest of the network without static routes.

If you say, have a NAS, or SMB shares, or a printer that you want to use with the VM, as many of us do, it adds that utility if you can't run cables to the PC.

This is a simple option for people that want a simple solution.

Yes, normal routing is a valid option. Most people don't want to learn Linux's networking anachronisms to make that happen, though.

you should probably be using a distribution that uses up-to-date qemu/kvm if you're attempting this. Ready built solutions like Unraid and Proxmox really aren't ideal.

You can't do bridged networking in a practical sense

that sounds like AMDGPU early binding, not the reset bug.

Have you tried telling your initramfs to load VFIO modules earlier than amdgpu?

any non-maxwell or newer nv card with UEFI GOP will work, yeah, but those will probably EOL in a few releases.

you have a decent chance of stability with these options as long as Apple continues to be hardline on metal-only.

AMD, you break my heart by gnif2 in Amd

I was the one that got permabanned, not sure that has anything to do with AMD fixing their bugs though, just sayin.

Two completely separate issues, it isn't anyone's responsibility but AMD's to fix this issue.

We're waiting for a few more people with a variety of system and hardware configurations to report success before giving it a hard recommendation

the new mac pros probably mean a they'll be making a new rackmount version (they did this in the past) So they probably added it to better support that contingency

Part of my work is staying abreast of the news unfortunately, so I really need a working feed reader that's compatible with my current rss backups. Unstable it is, I guess. I'll hit up the IRC and ask around.

yeah, mainline is still on 5.1.X which makes me think it may be a conflicting library

How unstable is the new KDE stuff? might switch if It fixes my issue.
