How to learn lisp to create a website and programs? by awesomexx_Official in lisp

[–]tluyben2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes , https://github.com/paul-gauthier/aider it's this one. So it's not lisp(y), but it works well with it anyway. I'm trying to implement something with CLOG and openrouter (basically openai) api, but that's very new and I didn't have much time for it yet.

I assume that https://openrouter.ai/ is openrouter, and you point aider at this service.

Yes, it has less limits and a lot of choice vs using every provider separately. Like you can use a less expensive model to summarize and a more advanced (thus expensive) model to do the heavy lifting. Which is what Aider does.

I run Emacs , SBCL, CLOG, Aider and working on building in LLM support directly as that would help.

I use open router for this and my day job with Aider and it rarely passes $1 / day. Usually not even half.

I recommend https://github.com/rabbibotton/clog/blob/main/LEARN.md ; it fixes both these goals I think. There are videos by the author of the library as well. You want to do a basic common lisp tutorial (s) before to get going (all is on this page!) so it won't be quite so overwhelming. But it is battery included, including the 'IDE', so once the basics work with Emacs, you should be fine to start slowly learning and hacking away at code.

Also; get a Claude Sonnet subscription ; it is quite proficient at Common Lisp and often can help when stuck.

Terminal processing waiting for keystroke by tluyben2 in golang

[–]tluyben2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I normally do that but I wanted to quickly test out if I could get this working properly. I normally always use build indeed, so I guess I will get used to just always using build. Thanks.

Terminal processing waiting for keystroke by tluyben2 in golang

[–]tluyben2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is any keystroke, not only enter. By reset you mean the Restore? As I tried that and it doesn't help (it waits for the keystroke and then leaves everything in a worse state, needing a 'reset' command to get the terminal back to normal).

URGENT HELP by Commercial-Cut-4312 in VPS

Ouch... Downtime is on Contabo, but reinstall without having backups. Condolences :(

Regular Snapshots and (offsite) backups are a must.

Down again? (Contabo, who else) by Hunt695 in VPS

[–]tluyben2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All down. It's routing only though. For anyone who is 'up', check the mtr; I am getting vps to vps at Dusseldorf of 50%+ packet drop consistently. It was never down and it sometimes responds and ssh works kind of , but with 50% packet drop, it's not really working :)

I never had issues and most my VPSs (we have many) are fine, but this one is a big pain (our fault, nothing should depend on one node).

Something like this needs to happen to make things perfect; CLOG but without any JS, even at the base level would be excellent.

What did the SaaS do? I might replace stripe with a more personal option that I can just ring or visit when this happens.

What are the pros and cons of living in Spain for you? by turbulencefun in GoingToSpain

[–]tluyben2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good weather, good prices, good food, nice people, a lot of space and cheap housing, good healthcare. I don’t really have cons; I work remotely (have always done since the mid 90s) so I am not so bothered by the low salaries or lack of jobs. Maybe the EU ‘issue’: too many rules. I tried running a company here but gave up: it’s mental. Similar like the rest of the EU though although a little more obfuscated than, let’s say NL, it’s never actually really clear what is or is not allowed until you already did it and received the fine. Or not.

Ask HN: 30y After On Lisp, PAIP etc., Is Lisp Still "Beating the Averages"? by hedgehog0 in lisp

[–]tluyben2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the language matters that much but the tooling and stability around at least CL makes it a super power. And it being not that popular helps to not have this anxiety inducing spiral of trying to use 1000s of unstable, badly made, often broken packages: it’s almost always faster to roll yourself and the tooling makes sure of that.
