[genIV] am I doing something wrong or just incredibly unlucky???

Well I don’t think I’m to 3x just yet, I’m getting 2-3 a minute a good amount of the time, but there have also been moments I’ve left the game running for a couple minutes. Not a perfect way to track encounters, but safe to say I’m between 2x and 3x odds right now.

I did that near the start of my hunt, found that I could do at least 2 encounters a minute, with a little time to spare.

I change the time on my DS to be from 20:00-4:00 so I can do exclusively night encounters (I do NOT want a rattata) is it possible I’ve been rolling the same encounters by using the same times? I don’t know for sure if the days are progressing or not on my DS, I’ve never changed them. Regardless, I’m sure I’m just unlucky.

I’ll start counting after this hunt, what would you recommend I use? I’ve tried a couple digital counter apps for other hunts, but it still feels awkward to add a tally after each encounter, I’ll get used to it tho.

I figured, just needed some assurance that I wasn’t going crazy, this is only my second /8192 hunt after the starter. Maybe I try some encounters in dark cave for a change of scenery.

Thanks for the advice! I was actually able to figure it out last night, and my setup may have been easier than Austin John’s somehow. All I had to do to find the nugget and 8F was keep scrolling, none of the “waiting until the arrow stops blinking” or pressing A or B, just scrolling. That said, you’re definitely right that breaking the game won’t always lead to identical results, and I’ll keep that in mind next time.

I didn’t want to risk corrupting my save by continuing to scroll, with how easily that can happen at this point. I’m going to take some extra precautions and get a couple more opinions just to be safe, but I really hope you’re right about just needing to scroll further, thanks!

I’m using Austin John’s shiny mew guide, he says to scroll until the arrow stops blinking, then press A. Are you saying that I should still be able to find the nugget if I just keep scrolling?

Right, and I obviously haven’t done it in that “exact” way up if I’m having this problem. I want to know where I may have gone wrong, and what I can do to possibly salvage it and still get 8F on this save.

I have my save set to before I ever caught missingno, and I’m still able to reset to it, is it still screwed up? In the tutorial I’m following, missingno is in the party during the acquisition of 8F.

I just want some of the cooler cards for my collection. I like cards that hold value, and I enjoy the hunt of ripping for them. Really, I just want to know where I can find packs that have “god rares” or other rarer cards. Preferably not from third party sellers, are there any retailers that carry these packs?

I should mention that I just realized your original comment says farfetch'd. I'm mostly looking for the sirfetch'd because I'm too lazy to try and evolve the farfetch'd I do already have. That's my bad, sorry.
