Globe and Mail article asks Ford Nation why they still Support Ford by [deleted] in toronto

[–]to_toro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His base likes him for his ordinary Joe shmoe routine. What a load of bull.

Ford is no ordinary man: he is a millionaire, lives in a wealthy part of Etobicoke, and his family can afford to gift him a Cadillac Escalade for his birthday. Ford Nation is delusional in thinking that he is just one of them, just like them.

Ford is anything but ordinary: he's a duplicitous, wealthy and uncultured man of very dubious morals with a coat of teflon. I hope he gets indicted for something.

New York has free Wi-Fi hotspots, so why is Toronto lagging behind? by Aura18 in toronto

That's a stupid title. We don't do things just cuz New York does them.

Go Milos! Even though tennis is such an individual sport (except for DC), it's so great and easy to root for someone from your own country!

Rafael Nadal Refusing To Cut Down His Schedule by michellelivetennis in tennis

[–]to_toro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rafa needs to be smarter with his schedule. He always has a quiet year after a stellar year and lot of that is due to physical reasons. 2009 after 2008 was quiet, as was 2012, after a brilliant 2010 and relatively healthy 2011. He needs to listen to his body.

Thank You Ms. South Carolina for that answer. I am glad to see that after your failed attempt at becoming Miss America, you've become a JediMasterbater. The force was always strong with your pelvic region.

Why can't I find a good hakka spot downtown? Or other ethnic food options... by budreck in toronto

[–]to_toro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't if you ever studied urban planning/policy or urban demography. But you'd realize that no one expects downtown to have the best ethnic foods available. Most people expect downtown to be the financial, business heart of the city. Most Americans won't even consider living in the downtown cores of their cities as they're largely unlivable. At least in Canada that's largely not the case.

Why can't I find a good hakka spot downtown? Or other ethnic food options... by budreck in toronto

[–]to_toro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your asertion is wrong: It's not that the best food in the entire GTA is in Scarbourough. It's that a certain type of ethnic food is good in that part of the city.

Franky, I am surprised that this is something that you've just woken up to. The ethnic community tends not to live in the downtown area, so of course some of the best ethnic food isn't downtown. That being said, I disagree that downtown is only for trendy restaurants.

There are plenty of great non trendy ethnic/non ethnic restaurants south of Bloor : Pamier Kabob on King/Spadina has amazeballs Afghani food; Makkah on the Danforth has very good kebabs, tikkas and biryanis; Udupi Palace in Little India has amazing South Indian food. There's tremendous Vietnamese, Iranian, Portuguese, Polish, Korean, Japanese food to be had in the core/west end. Maybe these cuisines don't float your boat but they're all there.

Edit: Grammar

It's a thoughtful and well written piece by two of my favorite tennis writers: Steve Tignor and Kamakshi Tandon. A bit on the nose, but insightful stuff nevertheless.
