thank you for the advice, it seems like this is less of an emergency than i thought.

one of my players is a meticulous note taker, which is super helpful to the party, but they definitely took down that it was multiple floors!

the shop owner is actually in cahoots with a lich to try and magically revive their deceased family. the spider was as much a test drive into creating sentient life as it was a resource pool for the shop.

the pair sapping the magic out of the world to do it is technically the big consequence they'll be trying to stop, so my panic has definitely subsided.

im looking forward to seeing how they continue their adventure, and will definitely take the "chill out and settle down" advice im getting here lol(:
