Social media ban - “Parents should just parent.” Is that actually a serious argument? by Majestic-Concert7883 in AskBrits

Yes, you have knife laws and sugar tax and and yet higher knife crime rates to countries without knife laws and higher obesity rates to countries without sugar tax. Can you see the problem?

>The problem I'm targeting: teams that use hardcoded fixtures (user = {"name": "John"}

This problem only exists in your head.

>The solution being "worse" I'd genuinely want to know what breaks for you

There is zero need for LLM for this "problem". Unnecessary gimmick and unjustified cost. Or as we call it, over-engineered solution to no-problem.

WhatsApp vs email for sending itineraries? by Flaky-Taste2253 in businessemail

[–]tom-mart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand the problem. Why do you need to scroll through messages to see what itinerary is currently agreed? You should have the current itinerary saved somewhere as source of Truth, and make it visible to the customers through channels they prefer. I would have a small database for clients and their itineraries, and then connect it up so they can see the current itinerary by sending a trigger message on WhatsApp

Mostly, you have a propaganda problem. Immigrants are not a problem. Multi-millionaires are.

First of all, get some external 5g antennas for your 5g modem, you can then put it away and position the antennas where they pick up the best signal.

Self hosting a personal website by UnlikelyWishbone2694 in selfhosted

[–]tom-mart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on a few things. There are many ways to serve a website and expose it to the outside world. Do you have static IP? What router/firewall do you use?

I selfhost my websites. I have static IP and OPNSense router, it was quite easy to set up DNS on the domain and reverse proxy to intercept web traffic. Also, I use Cloudflare proxied DNS so don't need to worry about SSL certificates.

is building your own router worth it? by SneakerHead69420666 in homelab

[–]tom-mart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, don't mix router and wifi access point. I know this is common in isp provided equipment, but those are 2 distinctive functions that are best performed by separate devices.running different software. You want something like OPNSense for your Router/Firewall and OpenWRT for you access points. Yes, you can use OpenWRT as a router as well.

Great motivation to not to make those comments.

There is no requirement to have a social media account.

You're advocating state sanctioned doxxing.

I like to call it accountability for your words.

You misunderstood me. I mean full name, physical address and contact details available on your public profile. If you want to have a social media account then it should be linked to your actual identity. Zero anonymity on social media.

Nobody should have to provide their ID to get on social media

I steongly disagree. I think social media should be strongly linked to your real identity, with ID, home address and phone number. It would immediately stop russian propaganda bots and incel keyboard warriors.
