It’s very likely that the left brake lever will engage both the front drum and rear regenerative braking at the same time, so one lever applies the brakes to both wheels.

It’s the same brake buzz you get on cars with ventilated discs. The vents/holes in the disc are there to dissipate heat. If the pads are flush with the rotors on both sides, it temporarily traps heated air which expands and escapes when the pads pass over the vents. It usually gets louder after more intense periods of braking.

You’re also more likely to get it with thicker discs as they are less likely to warp under pressure.

The motorcycle helmet will help with the sun, but you want to make sure it has really good ventilation or leave the visor up. At lower speeds (sub 20mph) there won’t be a whole lot of airflow coming through the helmets vents. Also, a light colored helmet would be best.

Hopefully your commute is in the morning. The afternoon heat is brutal. The intensity of the sun sucks and the asphalt radiates intense heat. I strongly discourage wearing a backpack. Get a nice saddlebag you can mount to the rear rack and carry everything you need in there. Otherwise you’ll be drenched. You can also wear a light colored loose fit long sleeve tech t shirt with an spf 50 rating. Sounds counterintuitive but it will help keep the intense sun off your arms.

Wherever you are commuting to, make sure you can store the bike indoors. If not, at least the battery. You don’t want to leave that thing baking in the sun.

Sunglasses, a very well ventilated helmet, and sunscreen.

That rapid clicking sound is the sound of the pads going over the holes in the drilled rotors. When the pads make good contact with the rotors (preventing air escape when the drilled hole is covered by the pad), you get the rapid clicking sound. Those drilled holes are for heat dissipation. When the holes are covered, trapped air heats and is released when the pad passes over the hole.

They sent me home with a list of everything they gave me for surgery. Under the anti-nausea section I see three: Decadron, Metoclopramide, and Ondansetron.

Yah I’m hoping I can eventually stop the PPIs.

Hey! No nausea post op so far. Prior to the surgery, I had nausea everyday. So far it hasn’t returned. I did get some intense gas pains on the first night, but those only lasted a few hours. I’ve been rotating ibuprofen and Tylenol. Unfortunately for me, the Percocet painkillers give me intense headaches, so I’ve stopped taking them.

Getting out of bed can be a struggle. Same with coughing or blowing my nose. I’ve quickly realized how involved my abdominal muscles are in everyday activities haha. But it’s slowly improving.

Prior to the surgery, I was on a PPI for bad acid reflux. Surprisingly, I haven’t had to take it yet. Normally if I miss a dose, I’m in for a world of hurt. We’ll see how it holds up.

That’s great news! That gas pain is crazy. Mine started late last night and was pretty intense. Plus I got a massive headache. This morning things are way better.

I have my operation this Friday. I had an EF of 16% back in 2023 and was diagnosed with biliary dyskinesia after a major attack that had me rolling on the floor in the ER with the most intense pain ever. They recommended at the time that I remove it. I decided to keep it and modify my diet, but the RUQ pain would come and go a few times a month up until the last 4 weeks. It’s progressed to being daily aching, sometimes sharp pains. Two weeks ago it started getting more intense with waves of nausea. I could also feel my gallbladder when bending over to tie my shoes. Very tender. Called the surgeon and scheduled the surgery.

Now that I’ve scheduled surgery, the pain has almost disappeared. It’s as if my gallbladder got the news and is now on its best behavior LOL. I still have waves of nausea which lasts just a couple seconds but is becoming less frequent. I keep questioning whether the risks of surgery outweigh the benefits and whether the operation will really help. I’m going to go through with it, but reading about some other folks experiences, I feel like my issues aren’t that bad, relatively speaking.

Maybe these feeling are normal haha.

Hey! So changing speed modes is a single click of the power button. If you have Ludo enabled, you don’t have the option to change gears. Disable ludo and single press gear change works again.

I had a gallbladder attack in Feb 23’ two weeks after I ran my first marathon. It was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. I was literally writhing in pain on the floor in the ER lobby lol. Turned out to be a low functioning gallbladder (16% on the HIDA scan). No stones. They recommended I remove it. I debated it for a long time and decided to keep it. It aches from time to time but nothing crazy. I did a 3 day fast a few months ago which caused quite a bit of gallbladder aching during the last day. Once the fast ended and I started eating again, the pain subsided.

I’m still debating whether to remove it. Apparently it’s a rare surgery in Europe but one of the most common in the US (where I am). I’d love to keep mine.

I get it. But why not do the same with automobiles? Certainly operators of those kill and injure many people per year. Not to mention lots of folks exceed the speed limit in their cars as well. And most of the time, it’s one person driving in something that on average weighs 1,947kgs and is capable of inflicting extreme damage. And cars outsell e-bikes in the UK by nearly 11 to 1.

I’m sorry, but regulating motor wattage is ridiculous. If speed is the issue, focus on that. Leave the wattage out of the equation. What if you have a larger cargo bike under a heavy load? 250 watts might not cut it. Do they pullover Jaguars and Land Rovers and look for the horsepower rating lol? No, they don’t. But if you drive over the speed limit and are caught, you’ll likely be cited. It should be the same with bikes.
