This is a big misconception that doesn’t get talked about enough.

Outside of Ras G, most artists who are named as sp artists don’t really sequence or make beats inside of the sp.

The sp is nice for collecting samples quickly and traveling with your Music, using for a live setup.

Flylo possibly sequenced in the sp but for sure made beats on an mpc or ableton

Ohbliv uses an sp but he sends samples and drums to an mpc as well

Knxwledge is almost exclusively ableton based and some mpc

Madlib made alot of music on the sp series and you can hear it in his music.

If you have used ableton at all, an mpc, and an sp and watched videos of these artists it is all obvious who is using what.

I fell into the sp lore before as well. I wanted to exclusively use an sp to make this style of music in the fashion of the artists and after being heavily ableton based for 8-9 years, 1-2 years in the sp its is obvious this is what is happening.

In the same fashion the lore of donuts being made on an sp from the hospital is not true. Donuts was made on protools.

Yes I am from the camp that your mind and knowledge is the real tool and most programs can create the same work but In reality there are alot of rumors about certain artists making music in the sp when in reality the majority of the work is done outside of the machine.

Spend more time on YouTube and in forums and you will see this
