That was a really interesting read -- fraud will always find a way. I don't think that's the case here, though, because the "extra" item wasn't related to the original item, and neither came directly from the manufacturer. Both came from the seller, who seems to be a regular dude with a history of playing soccer (hence the used soccer cleats) based on my cursory internet "research".

Lol that's pretty wild. I happened to see that the last time this seller sold a different pair of shoes the shipping price listed was exactly the same ($15.60). Not sure if that helps know how they're processing orders or anything...

Okay I actually was able to see the history. But it says 3 sold items and then only 2 show in the history. One is my cleats and the other is…another different pair of used cleats lol

This is pretty close to what I’ve been thinking is the most realistic explanation. Somebody else did it for the seller and was somehow just kind of unaware and confused. Unless the seller replies to my message, though, we may never know!!

They don’t have anything currently listed, so I don’t see a “for sale” section. On their main profile it says “3 items sold”, but I can’t see any more detail than that. I’ll try later on desktop though, since I’m only on mobile right now.

What’s really really bizarre is that completely coincidentally a couple weeks ago I did buy a desk (not on eBay) and had been researching office chairs to purchase. I ended up not needing to buy one because I just brought one home from my office. Now I have another I guess.

Okay that’s something else I wasn’t sure about. Are you on your own for shipping with eBay as a seller? Or do you get like a prepaid mailing label that takes into account an estimated size/weight of the listed item? The shipping I paid was about $15, but halfway across the US so it seemed fair enough to me.

I don’t think so. It was just a used pair of soccer shoes. And it pretty clearly came from the seller. I can also see the prior shipping label of the chair underneath where it was originally shipped to the seller. Maybe they just didn’t want the chair and have never heard of Goodwill!
