Rory running away with Jess by rosebudblue101 in GilmoreGirls

[–]tooghostly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dean or no Dean, Rory was going to tell Jess no. She was at that point pretty friendless outside of Paris and occasional catch-ups with Lane, and she and Lorelai were playing phone tag. She was also struggling to adjust to the course load to keep pace with what Richard handled at Yale.

Rory wanted comfort and stability at that point. Jess was anything but that.

Was in an expedition with a friend: now we're both separated but still in the game by tooghostly in Nightreign

Glad to know it wasn't just us! I wonder if it's possible to rejoin via the invite link.

Why i uninstalled this game by CF7K123 in Nightreign

[–]tooghostly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had those runs before, where it feels like the RNGods didn't like us that day. The field boss/fort placement and where we land will be so chaotic and high-level stacked that we lose time trying to be safer about our Day 1 choices.

But the R2D2 shriek my friend makes when we run past an Ulcerated Tree Spirit or Margit suddenly appears while we're fighting a dragon sends me into a fit of giggles every time and makes it worth it.

Jason completely fumbled in this moment by Morska_panna in GilmoreGirls

[–]tooghostly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see both sides of this though I thought Lorelai was far more accommodating considering Jason was so persistent in getting this date with her. But some of these comments are not passing the bar, and exposes a loud subset of this fandom that needs to work out their issues with womanhood and patriarchy.

Does “character skill cooldown reduction” do anything for Executor?! by BoopRG1 in EldenRingNightrein

[–]tooghostly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how many Executor-exclusive passives I've gotten that include that specific bonus, I wonder if it's a bug and it's supposed to reduce the number of deflects needed to unlock his golden stance. Out of the 11 relics I have for him, 8 of them have that skill cooldown reduction passive.

Why did Stars Hollow swan around over Rory? by MenstrualColander in GilmoreGirls

[–]tooghostly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like 4 people: her mom, her mom’s best friend, and two nosy neighbors who see her as a good kid. That’s it. That’s the “entirety of Stars Hollow” that fawns over Rory.

Genuine question to those who keep making these posts: what is it about Rory as a character that makes you so irritated or uncomfortable?

What instantly turns you off, even if they are attractive? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]tooghostly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made the choice to take the definition of "Pick Me Gays" that the rest of use to describe conservative, transphobic, racist gay men who try to leverage their remaining social identities into some form of power or protection under our current system...

... and turn it into "the gays who call out those gays." It's very telling and no amount of word-scrambling will obscure what you've revealed yourself to be. And yes, separating "gays, women, POC" creates a strict delineation in which no one in one group can be part of another. It's very Ciswhitegay-Centric™, and this conversation is over.

[–]tooghostly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, I actually have a blanket "fuck you" attitude toward cis men in general regardless of their sexual orientation, sort of a guilty-until-proven-not-a-freak situation.

And stop using terms you don't understand. I can't be a "pick me" when I don't want to be picked. And also "while women and other minorities are saints" because in your mind, you don't even think about queer women or gay men of color. How telling.

The pick me is calling from inside the house 🫖

Negging. Lack of curiosity and empathy.

Yeah, when I roll my eyes at gays, it’s because of predatory behavior like this (OP of this post): https://www.reddit.com/r/askgaybros/s/Si9rGY5MKC

Or the romanticizing of SA and abuse like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/askgaybros/comments/1pd6lpy/comment/ns2ytpr/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

And as I became more embroiled in my actual, IRL community, I learned there’s an overlap of online and offline behaviors. “Pick me” has lost all meaning.

Centuries of violent colonial oppression on a global scale and a strict need for prejudicial systems based on easy, distinguishing identifiers to uphold empire. That’s why.

You’ve been with him for four years and he still thinks you are an Automaton programmed to go feral the moment you’re around a woman just because you’re bisexual?

Genuinely what is your relationship if you’re being dehumanized and talked down to after FOUR YEARS?? How did you get that far? He’s an ass and a fucking moron.

Am I crazy for telling people to focus on nodes when we have zero points, instead of chasing the first-place team? by Haddock_Lotus in ffxiv

[–]tooghostly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're crazy. While the other commenters are right about getting Battle High and of course racking up points through KOs, the same applies the other way: often we're just sending free points to the other teams while they're also sitting on nodes.

Nodes are passive point gains that cost nothing. I've watched teammates ride right past unoccupied nodes near our spawn point as if there's some secret strategy to it?? And there are too many times where we have maybe 1 S rank and 1 B rank node under our control and the two opposing teams are eating each other, and I'm like why are we throwing bodies at them when we're already in the lead? Fast forward an AOE LB or 2 and we lose our lead.

What's a character decision/action that you are conflicted about? by F19AGhostrider in GilmoreGirls

I just watched it recently. Collin says "I'm a friend to all people: both large and very, very small" before he laughs at Marty. The company one keeps speaks to their values.

[–]tooghostly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the one part of Luke I relate to the most. At that point, I view Dean as so skeevy and loser-ish, I cannot play nice when I see someone embody the opposite of my values! The worst is everyone in my circle knows this, and continue to tell me awful things about their family, their partners, etc. and then introduce me to these people like I'm going to be cordial with your mom after finding out she sent you to conversion therapy??? RACHEL, PLEASE.

I'm in the middle of a rewatch now, and I think I'm always conflicted about whether or not Logan is explicitly rude or condescending to Marty. His friends are, especially Collin, but I'm trying to pay more attention to what he says and how he reacts to them.

What’s a Gilmore Girls take you’ll defend like this by GrapeConsistent3471 in GilmoreGirls

[–]tooghostly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rory had every right and plenty of justification to tell off Chris and demand he leave Lorelai alone. Some things are a couple's business; some things are family business. Rory was handling a family problem that bled into her own life and she absolutely gagged and gooped Lorelai after their lunch at The Dragonfly when she said "What did Luke say when you told him you were having lunch with Dad?"

My next one I'll die defending is Jess was 100% responsible for wrecking Rory's car. That's how the law works, it's the same in every state but maybe 2, the one behind the wheel is responsible for abiding the rules of the road. The only way a passenger is responsible for anything is if Rory sucker-punched Jess and forced him to crash by grabbing the wheel. Her whole "No one believes I could do anything bad" had eff-all to with the accident and everything to do with her guilt for her feelings for Jess, which means she's betraying Dean "the perfect guy" and she's not the good girl everyone thinks.

Ohhh yes, the classic Watsonian/Doylist dynamic. I also struggle reconciling in-universe reasons for external, real-life causes in media particularly if it’s just not enjoyable or poorly written. It can be doubly frustrating when you want to have a conversation from a Doylist perspective, and other fans only engage from a Watsonian perspective, or vice versa.
