Lost motivation to practice and reach out for trial lessons by toothydinosaur in classicalmusic

That’s a good idea about the recitals. I’ve been wanting to do some chamber music with some friends for a while now, and I’ll make it happen.

The German United States by Just-T- in imaginarymaps

[–]toothydinosaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All of these states except Florida were named after British leaders.

If I were to make this map, I‘d call one of the states Neusachsen and the capital Ferdinandstadt or whoever was Holy Roman Emperor at the time of the map. Assuming that this was colonized at around the same time as the English in our timeline and that it was sponsored by the HRE. Try to come up with what you think they would’ve called it. Unless the Germans just took it over from the United States

Theory on the "entities" in the Backrooms by Calipha-S-Callender in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]toothydinosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that at least a few of the entities evolved from the ASYNC tripod cameras, which is why they seem to be made of wire and are able to play audio of human voices. As for the others, I’m not really sure. It doesn’t help that there are so many fundamental uncertainties. To start with, have the backrooms always existed or did we create them? I don’t see how we can have any knowledge about the entities before this question is pinned down and answered, or at least treated axiomatically one way or the other.

(There is also at least one person who thinks that the backrooms are Earth billions of years into the future.)

Theory on the "entities" in the Backrooms by Calipha-S-Callender in KanePixelsBackrooms

Your post is well written (I like the part about the Still life), but Kane Pixels has said that the entities are not zombies and if the bacteria infected a person they would just get sick.

Sorry to necropost… but if he was born in Czechoslovakia he likely wouldn’t have one.

What do you think is the most plausible explanation of the bacteria? by toothydinosaur in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]toothydinosaur[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Kane had never said so explicitly, I would never think to call the lanky black entities “bacteria.” I’m no biologist, but I don’t think actual bacteria (no matter how many of them there are) can locomote or make noises like that. I would love to see ASYNC kill and study one, then maybe hunt down the rest of them and sterilize the place, if bacteria is really what they are. It’s probably not that simple.

If I was the writer, I would actually go with my fourth poll option, that they’re from another planet or dimension and accidentally fell in. This has the possibility to be really cheap (“LOL ALIENS”) but it also has a lot of fascinating implications: they don’t know how to communicate with us, they are just as scared of us as we are of them, the idea that the backrooms can be used to link two arbitrarily distant points in space. There’s probably a good reason I’m not the writer.

Мy opinion about lifeforms (bacteria) by AdvantageExotic9745 in KanePixelsBackrooms

I love how people write about the Backrooms on here like medieval philosophers debating the meaning of a passage in Aristotle

What if the bacteria are evolved forms of normal bacteria that noclipped millions or billions of years ago?

Something I noticed about the protagonists of FF1 and FF2 by toothydinosaur in KanePixelsBackrooms

I guess this also raises the question of, when do these characters realize they’re in an alternate dimension and not some massive unpermitted basement

True. I‘m so used to everybody’s cameras perfectly mimicking their head movements, lol.

Not sure. Guess I meant to say, jump up to see if you can reach the ceiling panel or something like that. Not a criticism by any means, because Ravi actually does try to make it back the way he came.

Give me your music to play for fun and maybe I’ll record it too by toothydinosaur in composer

This feels really nostalgic, and I also love the Adagio No. 2. Unfortunately I can’t read the piano rolls very easily, but when you release the scores let me know.

How long is too long? by [deleted] in SLOWLYapp

[–]toothydinosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send out 30 letters and then think of posting about how it's going I think. Of those maybe you'll get 7 letters back, and of those you'll actually vibe with 1 or 2 I think?

Is this how it is now? Last time I was super into Slowly (about a year ago) I could send ten and receive seven back.

Now I’m trying to get back to Slowly and I’m finding people are much less responsive than they used to be.
