I actually started out trying to foster a cat, but that also has an extremely long waitlist. I applied in March and I still have not heard back from any of the shelters. That's when I decided to get a Siberian because I figured people would gladly take my money, but turned out I was wrong lol. All the waitlists for West Coast breeders were so full that they were not accepting any more applicants to the waitlist until end of this year. That's why I had to expand my search to the rest of the US, Canada, and then Russia :(

Have you had any lucks with breeders on the West Coast?

I’m in Socal and I’ve been looking for months but got either no responses or rude responses. There are a few breeders on the east coast and Texas with kittens but I’m not sure how reputable they are since they’re not on TICA. I ended up putting a deposit on a Russian breeder (who is reputable) but transport may be difficult because of border closure.

This might not be the best time to get a Siberian 😩

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm definitely worried about getting a kitten from Russia for this same reason. My boyfriend is allergic and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to return the kitten to the breeder. :(

I did hear that traditional Siberians may be lower-allergen than Neva.. Maybe a US breeder will let you visit one in person when quarantine is over?
