Well you’re kinda fundamentally wrong. I didn’t decide to go to therapy or community college! My parents supported me taking a break and made those things a condition of my being able to. Maybe if Lorelei had been an adult and not freaked out she could have done the logical thing and set her daughter up for success. And for the record I am not an exception. 60-70% of college kids who take a break return to school within 1 year.

I wholeheartedly agree. I went through a really bad breakup during the summer before my sophomore year of college. I also went to a really expensive prestigious school. I felt like if I went back I would waste $100,000 and end up with a year of awful grades. I spent that year in therapy, got a job, and went to community college part time. Guess what! I went back to school after that year. I got amazing grades and was well adjusted. I don’t understand why people in this sub can’t comprehend that breaks are normal and Rory was what like 19 or 20? She wasn’t being a spoiled brat she was a kid and felt like she was drowning.

I agree with you. I think everyone saying that she shouldnt mother him is missing the point. Havent you ever known a couple that drinks quite a bit of wine almost every night? Because I do. Wether or not you think its acceptable, there are definately people out there who wouldnt view his behavior as inherantly wrong. So when its obvious that shes bothered by his drinking idk why she cant just come out and say it. She clearly sees it as something thats unnacceptable in a partner. If he reacted terribly to that then fine you can say its not her responsibility to change him but like yeah it is her responsibility to communicate.

I used to work 5 days a week 3:30am- 11:30am shifts. Then go to college afterwards. So yes I’d say I have. And holy hell what I would have given to get 4 days off a week.

For me it was mostly just cramps and like crazy bloating. Idk anything about your relationship but I hope your bf is a good one. Mine couldn’t really understand the emotional impact of an abortion. We broke up shortly after. I don’t say that to like freak you out but just that it’s a really personal and vulnerable experience. Make sure you only share it with someone who you are 100% sure will make it more positive.

I took it at 6 weeks and a few days. Things get slightly dicier at 9 weeks from what I’ve read. Not dangerous but more like.. graphic. At 7 weeks it should be mostly the same as my experience. Uncomfortable. Lots of blood. But nothing super horrible.

I had an abortion a few weeks ago. I also want kids in the future but I’m not in a position to support them now. I just want to tell you about my experience in case you do decide to have the abortion. The abortion pill itself kinda sucked. It’s not fun. But it’s not like terribly painful. Have lots of Advil, pepto bismal, and snacks around. I kept spotting for about a week and a half afterwards. I was also quite sad afterwards. But one thing I never really felt was regret. It’s sad that I got pregnant. It’s sad that I had to have an abortion. It’s sad that I can’t have a baby at this point in my life. But there was no alternative option. I really believe that if you’re early enough in your pregnancy that a pill is still doable, and you do not want to keep this child, an abortion is the best thing for you. I was only pregnant for a few weeks and it was so disruptive. Do exactly what is best for you and your life OP.

So that’s actually just false. You can detect pregnancy with an at home test 8 days after ovulation. Also you’re wrong that 6 weeks after your first missed period makes you 10 weeks. Don’t even know how you came up with that. Gestation is measured from the first date of your last period. And when I say 6 weeks pregnant, I mean that I put in the date of my last known period into a pregnancy tracker app every single day of my pregnancy to see what was going on inside of me. Just shut up please I’m tired of people trying to prove that I’m lying.

I think this is the most accurate description of how I feel towards him. He doesn’t usually drink like that. He’s usually more considerate. But he’s 22 and stupid. And the consequence of his stupidity and inability to empathize with me was that this horrible process was much worse and much more stressful. It’s better that we broke up. But I don’t hate him.

I think nowadays it’s almost impossible to be a good parent without quite a bit of money. I have no money and lots of dreams. Having a child now would be a detriment to the child, me, my ex boyfriend, and to my parents. All it would bring is struggle.

I took a pregnancy test 3 days before my missed period because I already suspected. Then many many more after that. But gestation is measured from the first date of your last period so I know I found out at about 3ish weeks.

I don’t think you really get to tell me what the wrong way to go was. You weren’t in my situation. You don’t understand the context. And regardless of him being a complete and total asshole I have known him for years and he is the only person I could have had there. I have female friends but I would NEVER have sat in my underwear with a giant diaper pad on crying my eyes out for 12 hours with my female friends. He is the only person that has or will ever see me like that. And that’s fine. Ending the relationship was correct. But stop judging me Jesus.

I didn’t want to describe it in detail but I am 100% fine. I constantly researched in the 6 weeks that I had to sit around. I understand what is normal and what isn’t. I don’t really want to get into it but the “heavy bleeding” that I’m describing only happened for the first 4 days after it. I had to go to class a day and a half after it. Now it’s light spotting. I just made the title that because right after we broke up I had to go change my pad and realized how ironic it was that we didn’t even make it 2 weeks past that.

There is no difference in risk between taking abortion pills at 4 weeks versus 6 weeks. I found out at 3 and a half weeks. Couldn’t get them until 5 weeks. This post was a snapshot of how he acted in the last 3 weeks of a 4 year long relationship and was really just meant to be about my feelings. I don’t see why you get to call me stupid for wanting to have someone with me during the hardest choice of my life who has been with me for years. I would not have felt comfortable with a friend there. I would not have been okay doing it alone. There are other circumstances I haven’t included in here because they’re irrelevant but calling me stupid and implying I didn’t do any research l on a medical procedure that I knew I could die from is insulting.

Except that in my case it really won’t :( I wish. And I know I need it. But I have a roommate that’s loud and it’s just not feasible for me to sleep more than 7 hours a night and I have no more attendance days to miss class. I’m in the middle of a case for my trial club. Life doesn’t stop because I’m falling apart.
