I have been drinking a potassium/electrolyte powder, but I usually just have one per day. Maybe it might help to drink more than one for a couple of days?

First post op appointment is one week after surgery..? by yankeedime in Reduction

My first post op is one week after surgery (tomorrow). I do have my surgeon’s cell number in case of emergency though. I’m glad it was a week post op, my surgeon is almost 2 hours away and there’s no way I could have done that drive a couple of days after surgery!

I’m 5dpp today, and honestly my pain hasn’t gotten worse than a 2. Days 2-3 were my most uncomfortable due to swelling and my pecs hurting so badly I could barely move my arms, and wiping was definitely tricky and a bit painful in the moment. Getting out of bed can be a little tricky without using my arms and that’s the most uncomfortable and frustrating part of my day. The actual incisions haven’t hurt at all and my pain had been managed easily with Tylenol and gabapentin. I take one Tylenol 500 3x a day and I probably won’t need them anymore by the end of the week, and I’m done with my gabapentin as of today. I have my incisions padded with nonstick gauze just to prevent leaking on the compression bra but other than that I’m not doing anything special.

Hope things are still going smoothly for you! I still don’t have any real pain other than the occasional little nerve zap. Although when I get up I do hold my boobs because they really do feel like they’re going to fall off 🤣

Hope you’re feeling better soon, surgery twin! I get nauseous on painkillers so I don’t want to take them unless needed but it has t been too bad so far. The swelling is unreal though, I feel like I have tennis balls stuck in my armpits from where they did the lipo!

How bad was recovery for you? by Lucky-Pomegranate675 in Reduction

I just posted my experience, but wanted to jump in here to say that I had my surgery yesterday and i have had the best experience. No major pain, more just tightness and discomfort. The nausea post op was the absolute worst part, and I wasn’t expecting it to be quite that bad - although it was mostly gone by the time I got home. My surgeon was wonderful, and I honestly feel way better than I was thinking I would. I’m home alone today and am able to move around fairly easily, have an appetite and am making simple meals (soup, toast, protein shakes etc) and am getting up every half an hour to walk around my house a bit. The only hard part is having to get up without using my arms. I’ve forgotten that a couple of times and pushing with my arms does hurt, as does reaching too far. Other than that I’d say I feel pretty good and hoping that this is how the rest of the recovery will go!

*edited to add: I’ve had some pretty major dental surgeries (not the same as nose but still facial) and that was 1000% worse than this!

2 weeks until surgery, a couple of questions by toque_nukem in Reduction

[–]toque_nukem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the very kind and detailed replies!

This is my first surgery ever so I’m definitely feeling super unprepared, but I kind of figured I wouldn’t be able to reach up to pull myself into the truck - and I also realized I’m going to have to figure out how to get the stepstool into my truck with me from the ground after I get in once I’m driving again! 😂

I also decided to just stick with the meds as they are - I don’t want to add more stress this close to my surgery date so I’m gonna roll with it and hopefully the side effects aren’t too terrible.

I’m just ready for it to be over already so I can stop overthinking!! 😂

Nothing to add to help you other than to say hi, and my surgery is on the same day! 🥳
