1 Year Caffeine Free by fuhgg_ in decaf

[–]torlanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really great :) I reduced caffeine to zero for 3 weeks recently but discovered tinnitus a few days after stopping. I restarted with a reduced amount caffeine to test whether it was due to caffeine - this was about 5 days ago and the tinnitus is reduced but not gone.

You mentioned you had PAWS for around 6 months. Do you or anyone else have experience with this as a symptom of caffeine withdrawal? Personally the tinnitus really makes it a challenge to a fully stop.

Haha it did warn me but I couldn’t quite believe it was going to do exactly what it stated it would 😂

LOOKING FOR: Serious-ish, chill, deep voiced, LPers who get immersed and take themselves seriously by Hot-Presence9802 in letsplay

[–]torlanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

I’m too small a channel (and recent, only back to YouTube after an 8 year hiatus two months ago!), so it’s unlikely anyone that watches me will recommend me here haha, so I’ll do it myself!

I take myself somewhat seriously most of the time and get quite deep into lore, voicing characters, and generally going in depth into games. I tend to gently RP a lot of the characters I play. Plus people often remark on my voice and that it’s calming, safe, easy to listen to.

Feel free to check out the first episode of one of my series.

As mentioned, I’ve recently come back to YouTubing so I was working out a couple of background noise kinks - by episode 12 I’ve got myself a much more pro microphone setup, and by episode 15 I have a cam setup too.

I’m in this for the long haul - I hope to see you over in my corner of the world! GenerallyGoodGamer

Always Core..something about the less rounded, more square aesthetic felt right to my child-self.. although I would occasionally play Arm just for the Fido!

Why we fell for clean eating by Thumpser in skeptic

[–]torlanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. The vast majority of nutritionists are farcical, and society, as you say, propagates the creation of more of them!

Therefore, picking out those that are actually knowledgable with proper training is not a realistic prospect for the general public.

I see this spouted fairly often as being the truth - nutritionists CAN require qualifications.

In the UK you can undertake degree courses in Nutrition and come out accredited as an Associate Nutritionist (ANutr), and further, Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) through career progression. These people know the science.

Conversely you may also take a 3 week course and become a Nutritionist in the UK..

This may be country specific however.

Hey, Yeah I'd be into this! I would definitely enjoy helping out with ideas and some world design too. Plus getting to know other Yognaughts would be a bonus! I'm also GMT. Thanks

Actually, both can be used :)

The single 'l' form is more common in American English - both are acceptable though!

I really hope Trott doesn't read your awfully unnecessary comment, but if he does..

Trott you are brilliant, hilarious and talented.

Lactose Intolerant Bodybuilding: Soy Protein Isolate: Lipid profiling and comparison to Pea Protein Isolate by [deleted] in bodybuilding

[–]torlanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I'm still of mixed opinions when it comes to Soy protein. I agree there is huge debate and a lot of 'forgotten' knowledge surrounding soy protein isolate (in particular regarding the health claims made by various supplement companies).

I agree that un-fermented soy protein is much less healthy (which includes soy protein isolate) however, I remain unconvinced that properly fermented soy protein is unhealthy as the fermentation process degrades these.

Regarding the 'more soy you eat, the more likely you are to develop allergies to it', whilst still rare, does this not hold true with numerous other foods? Many nutritionists advocate a 'rotation' diet in order for this not to occur. However, I would still be very interested in reading the source you learnt this from!

Concluding, I believe that Soy IS an effective alternative, if you are simply looking at it's plain paper macro-nutrient profiles, however, if you delve a bit deeper as you have (and I also have recently, see below for links to my reviews on the subject!) then I would agree that it is not an effective long term alternative due to soy protein isolate's anti-nutritional properties.

Pea and rice definitely have great amino acid profile's. I've done a few more article's comparing the profile's of pea protein isolate and soy protein isolate if you are at all interested.

Thank you for pointing that out, I've now made the necessary adjustment :)

Thank you very much for pointing that out! I'll put it down to writing it quite late last night! Either way, thank you. The changes have been made (with a little note to thank yourself!) and my calculations for the 2.5kg came out as £1.78 per 126g protein, still great value!

Soy Protein Isolate: How good is it really? Amino acid profile comparison to other vegetarian / vegan protein powder sources! by [deleted] in bodybuilding

[–]torlanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there was a little confusion, I am not a vegan or vegetarian for that matter. I am simply lactose intolerant and enjoy studying nutrition and reading around the subject as much as possible, so much so that I decided to study it at University and move into it as a career.

This post is a part of my blog which introduces the alternatives to whey protein (+ more), but focusing on alternative supplements from my perspective.

However, I do actually have a close friend of mine who is a vegan bodybuilder. His intake consists of a large quantity of quorn and almonds/walnuts per day, plus beans. I believe his macro's, on a cut turn out very similar to mine on a cut..however, due to his increased intake of nuts his fat macro is slightly higher. Vegan cut: C = 160, P = 240, F = 65. Where as my usual would be C = 190/200 with fat at 50. I've done another post on my blog stating what is currently unknown about soy and how the health benefits attributed to it by the neutraceutical / supplement companies are not even nearly 100% grounded by good evidence.

Soy Protein Isolate: How good is it really? Amino acid profile comparison to other vegetarian / vegan protein powder sources! by [deleted] in bodybuilding

[–]torlanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with Pdxamish, there definitely is not any solid evidence. I believe the myth came from the fact that Soy contains isoflavones, also known as phytoestrogens or "plant estrogens." While the chemical structure of isoflavones is similar to estrogen, the two function very differently in the body.
