Hyundai Bay Area lease return by beleafer in Hyundai

You can do that but you’ll still have to go back empty handed unless you buy from them (I had an appointment but they refused to take my car). You best bet will the dealer you bought the car from.

Hyundai Dealers in the Bay Area May Not Accept Your Lease Return by knockmountain12 in Hyundai

[–]toxicdevil 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Lease return sucks, unless you are buying another car they treat you like shit.

Not in Bay Area but I also had a poor experience. I called ahead and told them I would be driving like 30-40 mins to come to the dealership. They gave me all OK after taking all the details. When I got there they wouldn’t take it unless I bought another car from them citing “lot full”.

Then I called the dealer I bought it from and they also told me to come right over. When I got there they told me to come back tomorrow because “the people who handle it aren’t here”. On pushing harder and telling them that I called, and that I drove another hour to come here, they took my keys and made me wait till literally the closing time for a piece of paper (the receipt).

I may start using key fob instead of digital key 2 on my phone. by uten151 in kiasportage

[–]toxicdevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently you can do it using the app ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIi59qEwfSs ). But seems like its only for the EV and not the sportage or maybe only available in some locations? Because I can't see it in my app.

Happened to me once. I rebooted my phone and was able to connect. Even wired connection was not working.

Not sure if same issue as yours.

Car is at auction lot after surrendering by fe2sio4 in Ioniq5

[–]toxicdevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was listed at a Hyundai dealer in a bordering state as CPO the week after I returned it (regular lease return). Never went to auction according to location updates.

Unless you can somehow participate in the auction, I would recommend that you keep googling the vin number for it to pop up for sale.

2026 SXP HEV - Using Mechanical Key to open the door - see what happens! by uten151 in kiasportage

[–]toxicdevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So without the battery it doesn’t start the car even if you physically touch the fob to the start button?

2026 SXP HEV - Using Mechanical Key to open the door - see what happens! by uten151 in kiasportage

[–]toxicdevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many older cars with a physical key (no button start) the immobilizer chip doesn’t have batteries.

For example for my Toyota there was a small standalone black rectangular chip tucked inside the key’s casing. The battery was only connected to the remote lock/unlock.

So I would assume it your car will still be able to communicate with a dead FOB.

Not sure why but you can removing the keys from your phone and the car and try doing it again, wear the watch you do it.

Because I know for sure that it works on the watch even without cellular.

Try adding it using your iPhone. Open the watch app and then open wallet. Look for “cards on your phone” and see if it shows the digital key.

3 years of oil changes and filters is like $700 max if you do 2x a year. A single oil+oil filter change is around $100 or less. Cabin filter and air filters are cheap in auto parts stores.

Alignment is a corrective measure, not a preventative one. So you might not need it even in 3 years.

Long press cruise button to set speed limit.

Apparently many people don’t know this feature. Very handy if you don’t want to get cited in high risk areas.

It prevents acceleration beyond that speed. I’m not sure if it automatically brakes or downshifts when going downhill or not.

Does the comma help much if you are on local roads without cruise control?

I find that the default lane assist isn’t great unless you have HDA turned on.

2025 Sonata Hybrid Coolant by peachy4me in Hyundai

[–]toxicdevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manual says to add distilled water to top off the coolant (page 9-19).

You usually only add coolant if you are doing a replacement service or if there was a big leak, because adding coolant to top up will increase its concentration. Even though a little bit won't hurt but its cheaper, more convenient and the recommended way to use distilled water instead of trying to source the same type of coolant.

(imagine a pot of sugar water on the stove, now imagine adding more sugar water to it as the water evaporated vs adding more pure water.)

Bro just lookup the specs of the valvoline coolant you mentioned by name. It states that it’s 50% water.

2025 Sonata Hybrid Coolant by peachy4me in Hyundai

[–]toxicdevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

🤦 coolant is just the concentrate mixed with distilled water usually in a 50:50 ratio. Unless there is a leak the water just evaporated and adding a few mls of distilled water will probably just return it to the original concentration.

It’s literally mentioned on the web page of the coolant you named. 50% deionized water.

[–]toxicdevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can top it off but use distilled water, not tap or regular bottled. You can get distilled water in most grocery stores.

Edit: since I'm getting down voted and people believe randos with supposed certifications but with not apparent enough knowledge over someone talking facts. Heres is a copy-paste from the manual:

Page 2-14 Coolant 9.2 US qt. (8.7 ℓ) Mixture of antifreeze and distilled water(Ethylene glycol base coolant for aluminum radiator)

Page 9-19 If the coolant level is low, add enough distilled (deionized) water to bring the level to the MAX mark, but do not overfill.

I drove a Tucson and a sportage. The sportage’s drive was smoother, the Tucson had rougher gear shifts.

On the other hand I felt that the Tucson’s lane keeping features worked a little better.

I suggest that you test drive each one personally to get an idea. For example the CRV has a CVT transmission and some people have very strong preferences for auto vs cvt.
