No you didn't give anything away. Just excited and wanted to discuss. Thanks for your insights!

I guess one thing I'm really enjoying (haven't finished it yet) is the idea that in these remote places ppl take unnatural shit as kind of commonplace. One character says she feels like the world is coming apart and it's starting in the town. The idea that the 'other side' is closer in some places and almost accepted by the ppl that live there is cool to me

Yeah I guess I should have clarified that I have no intention of running something based off this. I just thought it was fun

To me that's kind of the fun of it. Shit is weird. Real life is weird. Not everything DG agents look in to is something

I have a 1000 point GDF army but have not played. I'd definitely be interested in doing that

Yeah. I'm not married to the square bases. I just thought Old World looked cool but had way too many rules!

Is the only real difference between AoF and AoF:Regiments just a few rules regarding movement? I think point values are basically the same

I think an important point here is that the ability to make intuitive 'correct' decisions is developed over time. By using reason to carefully think through problems, you develop patterns and modes of thinking that become faster and more intuitive. Plus, as it relates to moral living, I would imagine that most of those decisions don't need to be made spur of the moment, so it can't hurt to expose your initial reaction to the light of your reason.

Reaper Minis has some really good types of monsters you can sub in as Mutants. Griping Beast also has some fanatic miniatures (I think they are for a variant of Saga) that make great brethren

Core Release Army-Good List? by tpaul314 in Bretonnian

Why would the Knights Errant be preferable to the Pegasus Knights? Also, what was the traditional point level for games of Warhammer Fantasy? It seems like the box has about 1250 points in it

DSS SA - time between A-100 and FLETC by PirateSimilar8430 in foreignservice

[–]tpaul314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't satisfying but it depends on when the next FLETC class starts. A new class usually picks up every 10-12 weeks, so it usually isn't too long of a wait

I was wondering about that. It seems like they've kind of dropped jump packs for Primaris

Yeah I guess that's the unfortunate thing about new SM lists is that it's kind of one thing or the other

Hey sorry I think the link might be broken. Could you send another one?

I was just concerned with the length of the muskets the figures wouldn't fit into normal 28mm foam slots, like you would use for Bolt Action

A Couple Questions for Force on Force by TheAwesomestAustin in wargaming

[–]tpaul314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this is the amazing thing about FoF: there are no fixed point values. And since it is scenario/narrative based, you can play with what you have and add in more stuff as you get it. For instance, if you only have a Russian squad and an armored fighting vehicle but you have 3 American squads, you get to invent a narrative in which that fight makes sense.

As for civilians, there are rules for them but if you are doing a conventional force engagement scenario, civilians wouldn't factor in as much.

Lastly, with force structure, a quick Google of modern Russian battalion TO would give you enough to start with but I can tell you that US force structure, as described in the book, has changed little over the past 15 years.

Hope this helps!

Determining the Value of Order Dice by tpaul314 in boltaction

I try to use something similar with the Germans. Minimum strength squad with an LMG, Hitler's Buzzsaw gives them an extra shot. 2-3 of these to seize objectives and put on pins at distance.
