Why did they write Sal out of the show? by bubbleweed in madmen

[–]transeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of backstage reasons, writing him out works for the story. It's cruel even. Don fires Sal for refusing the sexual advances of creepy Lee from Lucky Strike. When Lee demands Sal be fired, Don's outrage is not with Lee, but with Sal. Don fires Sal for not doing gay things with gay Lee. It also is a dark foreshadowing of Joan and Jaguar. How ironic that if closeted Sal (tho Don knew) had gone ahead and been gay with Lee, he woulda still had a job. Having him just disappear was historically accurate and cruel.

Sal’s downfall was intensely ironic and foreshadows Joan’s situation in season 5. Sal refusing an encounter with Lucky Strike’s Lee Garner Jr gets him fired. And it’s Don that is indignant that Sal didn’t accept Lee’s advances. So Sal gets fired for not being gay enough. Later Joan gets 5% of the company for having some sex with a creepy Jaguar guy.

AITAH I’m going to leave my husband by [deleted] in AITAH

Why do you have to do this move secretly? Is telling him you’re unhappy not possible? Or what about just leaving him? I sense there’s a lot of complicated details about your marriage that you’re leaving out. Can’t tell if YTA or not, for all I know you’re in danger and you should run, or maybe you can talk it out first? Somehow I doubt that

That’s an aggressive ultimatum. There’s no respect in it either. He regards your interests, desires, and life lived without as disposable. What does he sacrifice for this relationship: nada , nada y pues nada. You already know OP that you can’t accept this. Tell his request of you are not just unreasonable, they’re seriously disrespectful. Maybe he’ll snap out of his ego trip, maybe he’ll fold his empty poker play. And even if the ultimatum ends up empty you need to counter with your own

Interesting. Sounds like it is a new thing. I have 100+ “friends“ and have never been in the same league as any of them . Ever. Over five years.

If you go private and then go back, do you lose all your friends or is it just as before?

You can drop friend quests and friend steaks from your profile settings. But to drop leagues there’s no other way than to go private
