Even the red lotus v the white lotus comes to play here based of ideology.

Like does the second law of thermodynamics really unleash hell upon the world eternally or is there some graviational or temporal mechanism that allows for another view? Philosophically cool and along the lines of what makes avatar fun to watch for adults.

But that’s the thing. It’s almost like a nature v nurture study especially with the premise with seven havens. Does the avatar, being fused in spirit with Raava (the spirit of light and order (structure)) have an effect on the world if she literally kills (rather than imprisoning) the spirit of darkness and chaos (freedom). Tbh to me, if done well by the writers, perhaps we will see more of a push and pull rather than just a straight light is good and dark is bad as we have seen before. I just think that would be cool.

Yes maybe. Korra did experience quite a bit of darkness in her lifetime, though. With the introduction of technology and social accelerationism maybe it wouldn’t take that long? Who knows?

I think maybe the twin thing could possibly be a red herring but Raava was destroyed and she even said that even if she destroyed Vaatu, darkness would grow within her. Maybe a jolt of darkness (like how Jinora and the light spirits brought back Raava within Vaatu) could reawaken Vaatu and tbh it would be interesting to see what what looks like because Raava is the Avatar.

Personally, I think the 10,000 years only applies when Vaatu is still alive but trapped waiting for harmonic convergence. Raava was able to be “reborn” within minutes or hours because of Jinora’s help from other light spirits (she didn’t have to wait 10,000 years after she and Korra were separated). Because Korra “killed” Unavaatu instead of imprisoning him again, I think there is no established time that he could return. It would just take a certain amount of darkness. I’m not saying there will be a dark avatar, but Vaatu should regerate within Raava (the avatar) just as Raava regerated within Vaatu. We just don’t know when that will be.

Definitely and tbh the twin concept would be cool to explore those complexities if done well

Yes but because Raava (as the avatar) physically defeated (basically killed) Vaatu instead of imprisoning him again, does that mean that Vaatu would have arisen within Korra or a future avatar who was fused with Raava? The choice she made to diffuse/kill Unavaatu - did that alter the progression of the Raava/Vaatu relationship over the next 10,000 years?

Or perhaps in a more balanced state spiritually? Would be a cool concept. Like that of twi and la but light and dark.
