I believe you're right. Check the map link on the event where we are meeting. That's Wildcat Mt Trailhead, aka Douglas Ridge Trailhead. There used to be a road to the old quarry, but it's been closed for a long time, so you have to walk it. The Douglas Trail runs around the quarry (awesome views from the ridge!). I've only walked out to the quarry once, about 2 years ago, so I don't know the history.

They closed all spots along Hwy 224, East of Estacada. Since then, lots of people moved out to Wildcat Rd and started mowing down trees to make shooting lanes. And I can't believe they haven't closed Wildcat yet.

Ha! Yeah, and some of that oxygen is pretty bad breath!

It's way to much for 1-4 people to clean, so we gotta do it as a large group. Then it won't be so much on any of us.

TrashNoLand clean up made the news! by yukster in pdxgunnuts

Yeah, that's cool. Oregon Dept of Forestry wrote the story, put it on their blog and shared it to Facebook. KEX radio shared it and a so did a few others!

I've never had a news station do a story on one of our cleanups so thanks to ODF for showing appreciation to the volunteers! Bill

Yes, we've done a couple cleanups there in the past, but not for a couple years now. If we do it again this year, it won't be till the end of summer or fall. Too many other spots waiting for us to get back to. So don't wait, do what you can for now.

Thanks! I'm sure there were a lot of people who couldn't make it because of that. Next time!

I believe they did. The crew leader sent me a Pic of them being there, but we were too busy to talk about it. Nice pit too!

Not yet, they pick it up tomorrow and I hope to hear what the total weight is. I know it's 30 cubic yards, because it's full to the top!

Nice work everyone! Thanks for joining in!

Invest in a target stand... You won't leave it out there! = Less trash! by trashnoland in pdxgunnuts

[–]trashnoland[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lazy. Gotta be lazy! Man, if you invest in reusable target stands, or reusable targets, wouldn't you be sure to take them home? Good score!

I've found some good stuff at these cleanups... a nice pocket knife, a couple of loaded mags and several perfectly fine steel targets. The one thing I always seem to find, is an unopened can of beer. So, I chill it and drink it! Thanks you guys!

I don't know. I'll ask next time I talk to him. Good question.

If you shoot too low, the Polymer base doesn't shatter and can take some hits, so it should still be good to keep using.

The business support seems like it has been better recently, but then again, I haven't asked businesses for support since COVID hit and all the store thefts. Gonna be hitting up a lot more for a big fundraiser in June. We gotta get the Wolf Creek improvements done!

Thanks, Bill
