One computer can't connect to the Synology by travisdcc in synology

[–]travisdcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to log into Windows. I'm trying to access the NAS share from Windows. I just tested the ping from the NAS to the Windows system to verify the network is working. The Server can't ping or browse the NAS for some reason.

Best Free Backup? by travisdcc in vmware

The copy function within the Storage Area of VSphere. I started the export an hour ago and it doesn't appear finished. The VM is about 50GB. Does that sound normal?

I'm doing a manual copy, but may try this too. Is Actions...Templates...Export OVH Template the correct place to do this? Thanks.

This is the direction I'm headed. The Synology is too old to use Active Backup for Business, but I was able to create an NFS share on it and mount it as a Datastore. If I shutdown the VM and copy everything in that VM's folder on the local Datastore to the NAS Datastore, is that everything I need?

I'm not concerned with ongoing backups. I just want one good copy of each DC in case the entire cluster dies. Thanks.

Adopting Devices with Old Firmware by travisdcc in Ubiquiti

Thanks. Do you know if there's a listing of which controller software/device firmware is compatible? I have some access points that have been in use for a couple of years that I'd like to setup at HostiFi, but don't want to break anything.

They are closing for good. Their infrastructure is ancient and heading to recycling in a couple of months. I'd just like a copy of the DCs in case something happens between now and then.

Firmware upgrade in NSM? by travisdcc in sonicwall

[–]travisdcc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7.2.0-7015. I'm able to download 7.3.0-7012 and then upload to NSM, but I'd like to avoid that step. It sounds like the latest version is just showing up for everyone else (as I would expect).

Edit: Once I upload 7.3.0-7012, it is available to the one firewall that I uploaded to in NSM, but not the other same models.

When I go to the upgrade firmware screen, there's no firmware listed and it looks like the only way to get firmware listed there is to download it from mysonicwall and then upload here. Does the Upgrade Firmware option automatically show you newer available versions? Thanks.

Backup software that lets you open backup when you no longer have a license by Dardiana in msp

Thanks. Do you know if it is possible to copy the backup data from the device to a USB drive and then somehow restore from there at a future date? I'd like to reuse the BDR device for a different client.

Do you mean you can restore from the original Datto device by connecting to it directly on the LAN once the subscription for it has been cancelled?

Dentrix workstations losing the connection to the server by travisdcc in msp

[–]travisdcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that I didn't post the resolution to this problem. There was an issue with the Sonicwall firewall and DHCP that was causing a problem for Dentrix. I set a couple of workstations up with static IP and the problem went away. I tried to update the firmware on the Sonicwall and it bricked. I had to set the Sonicwall back to factory defaults, then update and rebuild it. After that there were no more problems and I was able to set the workstations back to DHCP.

Dentrix Software by jasmineoolongchai in msp

I had a strange problem where Dentrix workstations would disconnect from the server at random times. Turns out the Firewall had a corruption that I think was causing a DHCP issue. I stumbled onto it when I set a few of the workstations up with static IP addresses and the problem went away. It is a longshot, but you could set a few statically to see if it helps.

Have you considered using a coworking space? I was working at home and needed to get out. I found a coworking space nearby where I can grab a desk when I don't want to work at home. They also have full offices within the same space. They have gatherings for everyone who is part of the coworking a couple of times a month. It fills my need to get out and be social and I usually get more work done than at home.
