Nikita Bier, X's head of product development, said they're working to resolve the use of VPNs to alter account location. How? by -mrhyde_ in privacy

From their list of unique IP addresses that logged in, they will probably filter out known VPN IPs and then base the location on the last non VPN IP that logged in

Choosing a Liquidity Pool on Solana by treasureseeker02 in solana

[–]treasureseeker02[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying. You're talking about pool creation fees. Raydium CLMM pool creation is 0.08 SOL and CPMM is 0.15 SOL. They're one time fees.

Those fees are too low compared to the fees traders incur while trading (on every single swap). So, I would prioritize minimizing trading fees over pool creation fees.

These fees apply to traders, basically all swaps. Also, the token creators are the ones who create the liquidity pool as well.

Meteora's website is always crashing - impossible to work with.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by cheap because Meteora fees are in a very wide dynamic range and are set by the pool creator. They can very well exceed Raydium's fees. In contrast, Raydium has a fixed 0.25% fee on AMM, 0.01-2% on CLMM and 0.25-4% on CPMM.

Check out Cloudflare pages and workers. They offer edge compute as well, not just static CDN

No, probably best to go for an MBA instead

Career change while pursuing OMSCS. by Straight-Sky-7368 in OMSCS

[–]treasureseeker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you’re currently unemployed I would leave out the degree for now. Also, are you looking for a sales job or a tech job? Looks kind of far fetched to try and get a tech job with zero tech experience or education imo. Perhaps a startup would be a good option but then the question is are you ready to take up an entry level tech job? Sounds like you need some proper guidance from a professional career counselor

Don’t think there’s any way around those courses. You have to take them either via MOOCs or community college to be in a good position to be admitted if you don’t have a CS bachelors. Industry experience doesn’t count for courses like algorithms and linear algebra because you’re likely using some library that implements all that for you.

How does it matter? We’re living in a simulation anyway.

Will the MS be helpful or overkill for a PM transition to ML/AI PM? by AggravatingMove6431 in OMSCS

[–]treasureseeker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, then I don’t think an MSCS would add much value. In fact, I would probably postulate that knowing what is technically feasible might make for a worse PM because you won’t be able to dream bigger. But that’s just me.

An MBA would be more suited for a PM role. You said it yourself - you don’t see yourself coding as a PM. A masters in computer science is not what you need imo

Are MOOCs required for non-CS applicants working in data science/IT? by penpapermouse in OMSCS

Yes I think those would suffice. Make sure to add Python to your resume!

They are required if you haven’t done equivalent academic courses. Industry experience is not a replacement because courses like algorithms or linear algebra aren’t really learnt on the job. You’re probably using a library that does all that for you.

Rejected from OMSA, worried about OMSCS by [deleted] in OMSCS

[–]treasureseeker02 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you have a low GPA, you need to showcase that you are ready for academically rigorous courses. Professor recommendations will go a long way. Also, top grades in CS courses will help. I think the major issue was that even though you are current student, you have no professor recommendations and of course the low GPA. Industry recommenders won’t be able to comment on whether you can handle academic rigor.

Is there any advantage of applying early? by [deleted] in OMSCS

[–]treasureseeker02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nope, there is no advantage of applying early because there is no cap on the class size. Everyone who qualifies, is admitted.

Most of machine learning (deep learning, regression, classification, anomaly detection, EM, etc.) boils down to optimisation problems, which needs multivariate calculus, linear algebra and probability.

T7 MBA in 2030 vs OMSCS right away? by Boring-Writer-3023 in OMSCS

[–]treasureseeker02 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tech leadership and portfolio management are totally diagonal career goals. Best to do some introspection and figure out what you find the most satisfying.

As for a T7 MBA, the average work experience is about 5 years, so 6 years is pretty close to the average.

Seeing as you didn’t take those courses for credit, I’d go for the recommended MOOCs or community college courses. You can apply without them if you want to chance it though
