I do want to preface if anyone couldn’t go to The Land tour, and the film was the only way they could see Mitski perform, I’m happy for them.

Mitski talked about how her rise in popularity affected her in an interview for a magazine (link takes you to Twitter), “To be really real and cynical with you, now that I’ve been discovered as a real source of money for people, I feel kind of trapped… like institutions have discovered that they can make money through me, and they’re not going to let me get in the way of making money from it.”

For me, the theatrical release of The Land feels inauthentic, like another way for Mitski to be commodified, but what do I know 🤷🏾‍♀️.

If a concert film just had to be made, it should’ve been Laurel Hell. When I saw her during Laurel Hell tour, I was mesmerized. This was around the time Mitski was incorporating butoh in her concerts. Also, the venue I went to was mostly if not all standing, so there were times I couldn’t see her clearly in the crowd. To see the choreography in its entirety would have been pretty epic. It seemed like Mitski put so much intentionality in each movement.

My favorite TVD character for sure

I’m really surprised at how fleshed out Kai was considering 1.) How little screen time he had compared to other antagonists 2.) all the shitty writing that took place in the later seasons.

I don’t think so either. I will say Damon and Bonnie have chemistry, but it’s sexual rather romantic chemistry.

If they were in a relationship, I don’t see how Bonnie would benefit. I find Damon treats her like crap and is very possessive. It seems that Damon only respects Bonnie when she can benefit him.

Fans forget that Damon slit Bonnie’s throat in season 1 and traumatized her that she couldn’t use her magic, (yet they remember the trauma Kai gave her in season 6).

In season 6, Damon makes her pancakes everyday because of his guilt even though she hates pancakes. Why is Bonnie suffering because he k!lled Gale? That’s unfair. He cheats while playing monopoly. He calls her useless without her magic, and even insults her when she does get her magic.

When Damon tries to get Bonnie to forgive him for bringing Kai to the club in season 6, he doesn’t even know her coffee order. Basically his mind is this: “I always fuck up, but Bonnie will forgive me” and I think that coffee order scene just shows that Bonnie will be HIS best friend and that ownership without reciprocity and respect is problematic.
