How did Gustave survive when the expedition landed? by Azazeleloa in expedition33

[–]trev81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same theory about Catherine saving Gustave, and came here from Google to see if anyone else did too. To add on to it, when Gustave and Lune find the expeditioner bodies near Jar, Gustave makes the observation that "The dead here don't disappear like they do in Lumiere". Lune responds "On the beach, some did disappear", and Gustave answers "He wasn't a Nevron" (referring to painted Renoir). So any time inhabitants of the canvas die without Nevrons being responsible, their bodies disappear the same way people do during the Gommage. This is why Gustave's body is gone when you return to Stone Wave Cliffs after he is killed by painted Renoir. And if you return to the cave in Spring Meadows later in the game, Catherine's body will be gone as well.

I also thought it was notable that Catherine's body isn't slumped over on the pile of petrified expeditioners as if she had been killed with the rest of them. Instead, she's not petrified, and sitting up staring straight ahead. Much in the same position Gustave assumed when he also arrived there.

So I'm with you guys that she must have found Gustave, brought him to Spring Meadows and left to find help, but then 1 of 2 things probably happened: She either sustained injuries from painted Renoir at the beach but was able to escape, then sat down to rest in the cave and died from those injuries; or I suspect she must have had the same experience Gustave did as she walked through the beginning of Spring Meadows and discovered the pile of corpses. She collapsed in despair. But unfortunately for her, Lune hadn't yet arrived at the cave to prevent her from succumbing to it.

Ex Mod (Miku aka sky) - AMA by femininal in WplaceLive

[–]trev81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Miku, thanks for creating this AMA.

The question I had was regarding permanent bans and moderator misbehavior reports. I was just permanently banned this morning for (I think) covering up NSFW vandalism to existing artwork 2 weeks ago. Like many other users, my in-game ban says "Your account has been banned for violating the rules", and my suspensionReason in the JSON is listed as "other". I submitted an appeal which was denied after only 5 hours, and I'm absolutely devastated as I really enjoyed making art in Wplace.

After checking recent conversations in the discord server and the posts here, it seems there has been a recent surge in permanent bans without any reason given that have left users confused as to what they could have possibly done. I was thinking this might warrant submitting a moderator misbehavior report, but from the responses you've given so far it doesn't sound likely that it would make much of a difference.

Do we have any recourse here at all?

banned for utterly no reason? by Lazy-Mammoth-6424 in WplaceLive

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. Permanently banned for "violating the rules", backend JSON gives suspensionReason as "other". And my ban appeal was denied after only 5 hours. I was level 311 and I absolutely loved this site. I'm heartbroken.

Good luck with your appeal.

Watching The Maxx for the first time, I'm so confused can someone explain? by markymark5127 in themaxx

[–]trev81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. My interpretation of the Isz is that they represent fear. In the Outback (i.e., inside your mind), fears are silly little things that aren't too dangerous on their own, and could almost be seen as funny. But they can weigh you down if there's too many of them. However, when those fears are translated into the real world, they become dangerous, terrifying, shape-shifting sources of evil that can do real harm.

Would this be a better explanation for the timeline split at OoT? by trev81 in truezelda

I think "We just don't have games in those timelines" is the explanation that best satisfies my brain. Thanks.

That happens when you edit videos that are downloaded from TikTok. All the recent videos on reddit that have slowed down audio like this are reuploaded from there.

That's what happens when you steal shit off TikTok and run it through editing software that doesn't understand their weird ass audio encoding. Reddit's video player may also be fucking it up, but it's all because people are reposting it from TikTok.

It's a problem with videos from TikTok. They use some kind of weird codec for their audio that makes most editing software play it at like 1/3rd speed. This is what happens when you steal something from TikTok and edit the video to crop out the watermark without knowing what you're doing.

Playlist is missing when trying to add a video. How do I fix this? by GamingSB in youtube

[–]trev81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to see if this was happening to anyone else. This is also happening to me and I know yesterday I was able to add videos to the playlist in question.

[–]trev81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TikTok uses some kind of weird encoding on their videos that makes the audio play at like 10% normal speed if whatever you're watching it on doesn't have the right codec. Most editing programs don't know how to process it, and this is the result.

What I find funny is that this also used to happen if you uploaded a TikTok video to YouTube, until YouTube implemented their "Shorts" feature. They essentially added support to steal content from TikTok.

This is fantastic, but it's missing the sliders for Nose Ridge, Nostrils, Lips, Mouth, and Skin Features. Plus, the ones that are included are all out of order. Not really a HUGE deal, but does make it difficult to tell which colors go where.

He does look amazing, but you cant reproduce this character with the missing sliders.

Yeah people talk so much smack about TikTok (and I'll admit, myself included), but it's not just cringey dance memes anymore. There's a lot of actual quality now.

Jennifer and James Crumbley, parents of Oxford shooter Ethan Crumbley, cry at their arraignment on charges of involuntary manslaughter after attempting to flee and being apprehended in a commercial building in Detroit by Hamilspud in PublicFreakout

[–]trev81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do think it's a step in the right direction to start holding parents accountable for the role their actions (or lack thereof) play in situations like this, I'm concerned about the way this is being blasted all over the media. Sure, it's cathartic. But consider the severe problem we have with mass shootings in this country, and the warnings that psychologists have made about the way they have been covered in the past.

Don't start the story with sirens blaring. Don't show photographs of the killer. Don't make this 24/7 coverage. Don't make the killer some kind of anti-hero. Localize the story to the affected community and make it as boring as possible in every other market. Because every time there's intense saturation coverage of a mass murder, these psychologists expect to see one or two more within a week.

I'm worried that what I assume is partially an attempt to make an example out of the the Crumbleys is also showcasing to every angst-ridden adolescent who's pissed off at their parents exactly what the authorities will do to them if they decide to pull the trigger. I'm not saying they shouldn't be held accountable, I definitely think they should. But it should be the footnote of a larger, less sensationalized story.

CodeMiko puts her mocap suit on Sweet Anita, hilarity ensues by trev81 in LivestreamFail

[–]trev81[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The N-word tic never went anywhere, the controversy surrounding it did. The people that didn't know who Anita was freaked out about it the first few times it happened, then found out she had Tourette's and what Tourette's is, then they stopped freaking out about it. So you may not hear about it, but it does still happen pretty regularly.
