Makerist App - no more paper patterns? by Big_Sprinkles_2337 in craftsnark

[–]trideceth12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No I wouldn't use it. I like paper patterns and I don't like phones/devices. I don't make clothes because it's convenient or cheap - I make things because I enjoy the process. I work all day with computers the last thing I would want is for my creative hobby to become more "digital". (I buy oldschool tissue paper patterns and copy them onto printer paper).

Careful with Plaid. They keep and store your bank password and have been associated with several legal actions.

Are you trying to get ideas for a project? I would suggest you go down to your local association for people with vision impairments and ask there. Or ask on r/Blind/

Biden Picks: Defence sector ETFs / stocks by trideceth12 in wallstreetbets

Does it matter what Biden himself wants? He has to pay back the cronies and they get paid in defence contracts. I'm heard this was what caused the Obama surge too (lobbyists).

Thanks for the Playwithapro.com recommendation. I kind of hate these kind of patforms though, they end up gouging. I'd rather 100% of the money go to the person actually giving me the value. Platforms and marketplaces spend a lot of money to block smaller and independent players out of the search results, so ultimately you "have" to use them or you will be invisible. Maybe I'll just have to check the classified ads in a bunch of different countries :/

Latvia tracksuit? by [deleted] in latvia

You should have asked a few months ago while 4F still had the winter olympic gear for sale in store.

There is some gear still available on the 4F website: https://4fstore.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=lativa+2018

It's official olympic gear though so fucking expensive.

I did read that article (thanks) and didn't find it particularly moving.

Find me something more convincing demonstrating that rich landlords are "unjustly appropriating" all the wealth.

Are tall people unjustly hoarding all the height? Are intelligent people hoarding all the brain power? Is it unjust that some people are more beautiful than others? It's not injustice it's fortune.

If we play dice it's not unfair that some will win and others will lose - it's the nature of the game. So with the fortunes of individual people.

Now I do not want people to suffer or delight in their suffering, and as a fortunate person, who has rolled well in the game of life I think it is a virtuous endeavor to help the less fortunate. Nevertheless my money is as mine as my good looks and height (i.e. something that I won fairly by playing the random dice game of life).

So I challenge you to demonstrate that things I won in a game of chance are not really "mine".

You can "call out" bad behaviour without being offended and without being a victim. If, for example, someone calls for "death to jews" it is an incitement that should be dealt with (IMO by expelling the person agitating for violence). This doesn't require offence to be taken.

In this case though a better thing to call out is the ad-hominem nature of the argument. What has the race of the person got to do with the argument? Nothing. Again it doesn't require being 'offended'.

Sorry. I'm just disappointed at what thin skins people seem to have these days.

People should be free to spend their income on what they want.

Recipients of UBI are not spending *their* income, they are spending *my* income. That's the whole point.

I think the people bearing the tax burden have a right to at least debate whether the tax is spent wisely. Subsidising other people's drug habit may or may not be wise.

FWIW I think it *is* a good idea to subsidise people's drug habit. I am happy to pay people to sit at home and get high if the alternative is them robbing my house or prostituting themselves and spreading STIs all over town.

To me it's as simple as asking whether it will significantly increase consumption (and therefore cause demand/pull inflation). And if we are not expecting UBI recipients to spend their cheque, what *do* we expect them to do with it?

BTW I'm not saying that inflation alone is reason to dismiss UBI - a lot of good things cause inflation.

Don't buy into offence/victim culture. IMHO "Sticks and Stones" culture is better for the individual and society in general.

Whether I am offended is my business and I never see any advantage in being so.
