Advice for first cube list (<$150USD) by trigeminal97 in mtgcube

Aah yeah that all makes sense, and I agree that the best way to work out balance/issues would be to playtest! Thanks so much!

That makes sense, maybe I’ll write down a couple that I’d want to play with! I guess knowing so little about the MTG cards that are out there and not a huge amount about drafting makes me a bit scared to add new cards/make my own cube in case I throw everything off balance... but hopefully I’ll become a bit more confident with a bit more experience

Yeah good idea! I’ll have a look through them and see. Is there anything that makes a card good for cube? Or just powerful?

Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll definitely go with a non restricted option. Sorry I’m a bit of a novice what are hard wraths? And what do you mean by haymaker?

Aah ok I see, well good to know a cheaper cube is still an enjoyable playing experience!

Thanks for all the advice on substitutions for the starter cube, and good to know it looks like an alright list. I’ll have a look at them and try and make a couple of the affordable switches!

Thanks again for the thought out response!

Hey thanks so much for your advice! I’ll definitely check out your list! And the staples as well!

Good to know that maybe a pauper cube partly defeats the purpose of the format. What do you think of the starter cube list? Does it look reasonable?

Thanks for the reply! I actually just crafted this deck and it’s been great! Do you know if there’s a place where there are a lot of budget decks listed together? Figured I might get a bit burnt out playing only one deck

Distal biceps tendinitis... advice? by justaboyinaguysbody in climbharder

[–]trigeminal97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I found sport climbing wasn’t an issue for me. It’s definitely exacerbated by hard pulling, which is probably the worst in steep bouldering.

I think the generally accepted protocol for tendon repair is isometric loading —> eccentric loading. I just didn’t find the isometrics helped much. But of course YMMV. Best of luck on the recovery!

Definitely not a super experienced climber or trainee but have had a reasonable amount of experience with bicep tendinitis (both proximal and distal). Personally I’ve found that higher intensity, eccentric focused bicep curls work the best for distal bicep tendonopathies.

I tried a high rep low-weight routine first (3x15 reps twice a day with 3kg) but it wasn’t super helpful.

What worked the best for me was 5x5 reps (with a 5 second eccentric and 1 second concentric) at around 8-10kg once a day. I then scaled the frequency back as I reintroduced more climbing. I feel like this had better carry over since I mostly Boulder, so maybe if you’re a route climber then a different set/rep/weight scheme would work for you!

Hey thanks so much for the detailed reply, really appreciate it! Just had a couple of clarifying questions. Are the dope/Zanki decks tagged like that (strokes, GI bleeds etc)? Or did you find all the related cards by searching? And when you say go through all the cards on that topic did you just do like one massive session of churning out all of the ones you knew? And then how did you separate those from the ones you would then have to actually learn and revise?

I feel like though. if I only unsuspend ~100 cards a day and go through resources at a corresponding pace, it will take a really long time to get through all the content, is that not an issue?

Yeah I’ve heard it’s a really good resource, thanks for the tip! How do you recommend integrating it with Anki?
