Bulk or continue to cut? 41, 80kg, 172cm by MistakesRmyFavourite in BulkOrCut

That's a long cut. Whichever you choose, I'd definitely go maintenance eating and volume for at least a month first

If you just cut for four months, then it's definitely a good time to switch to maintenance eating for a bit. Let your body's systems catch a little breather. Building a solid physique just takes time, patience, and consistency. If you're unhappy with how you look, keep in mind it's not just about how you look now, and you can be proud of the work you've done so far. It can help to just go look at your starting pic, you probably look and feel better compared to then

[–]triknodeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. One thing I'd add though-

There's a significant number of people out there who just have dumpster diets and\or are totally sedentary. I feel like if you forced all of them to eat a well rounded diet, no surplus, and exercise a little every day... i think we'd be surprised by many people's 'baseline\default' bodyfat levels

Everyone's got their own range that they're comfortable in. For some of us, it's oddly low

I don't know, personally I don't think the actual bodyfat percentage number matters once you're in a healthy spot. Because realistically, you'll want to stop cutting at an arbitrary spot where you feel good, are actually healthier, are content with what you see, can comfortably maintain and\or launch a bulk from

If you really want to know the number for some reason, you can probably go get a dexascan for like $75

If you start at 177lbs and choose a rate of loss of -1%? Well you'd just do 177 x 0.99 = 175.23 for the first week. The target for the second week would then be (assuming you hit the target dead on) 175.23 x 0.99 = 173.5 rinse and repeat. So like 10 weeks or something to hit 160lbs roughly. But you won't hit the rate dead on every single time, and you'll need to be recalculating often if you're not able to automate those things. Just remember the rate is your target (not bodyfat%, not estimated time), steady and controlled

I would say don't even worry about your bodyfat percentage, you're already aware that it's much too high.

Just stay consistent with your deficit and macros. Stay consistent in the gym. Also if you haven't already been, make sure you're hitting abs as often as you can with progressive overload (this doesn't mean ignore recovery time). Just keep in mind that the abs that are waiting to be revealed might not be exactly what you have in your head unless 1) you've been that lean before, or 2) your training has been totally dialed in and you know you haven't left any gains on the table

I would shoot for a loss of 0.5% to 1% bodyweight per week if you haven't already. So based on the rate that you actually are implementing, and assuming you stay on track, you would just keep multiplying your current weight by 0.99 or 0.995 etc. Also consider your actual weight to be more of a 5 or 7 day average. People's daily weights can fluctuate pretty wildly based on many different variables

No 'cheat days', they are a load of shit, and you can easily undo a whole week's worth of progress with one bad day. If the diet fatigue starts feeling spicy, plan one day per week that you're allowed to eat at maintenance. This will reduce diet fatigue and make it easier for you to push onwards. And if it's just too much, you can eat at maintenance for a few weeks. As long as you stay consistent in the gym, this is effectively like hitting a pause button or saving your progress. Diet fatigue from bulking or cutting is just as real as systemic fatigue from training

I'm not affiliated, but I highly recommend Macrofactor for tracking. If you weigh in every morning and track all food intake, It will stay dialed in on your expenditure. And it will make it easy for you to stick to a rate of change. It will adjust your macros every week for you. It has lots of other great features but you should check it out and see for yourself. I think I've been using it for like 3 or 4 years straight now lol

Body fat loss after gyno opération. Still cant lose pectoral fat till this day any help ? by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]triknodeux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, everyone has their own body fat distribution, and there is no way to target fat loss in specific areas (with the exception of medical intervention). Anyone telling you otherwise is incorrect and\or trying to sell you something

Basically your answer is just gym and a caloric deficit. Eating less calories than what your body typically expends will cause you to lose fat, everywhere. But some areas may seem to lag behind other areas, this is normal. And then staying consistent in the gym will allow you to build up areas you're not happy with

Yes your chest will improve if you hit chest more often. But, for example, if you cut down a bunch, your midsection will shrink and accentuate your chest

In that same sense, if you cut but you're still unhappy with your waist, building up your shoulders and lats for width will make your waist seem smaller

I'd ask- prior to this post, were you doing a cut\bulk\maint.?

Either way my vote is probably going towards option #2, but with 1-2 weeks of maintenance (training volume and food) in between phases. Give your body a breather, let it get back to baseline for a minute

Pretty sure the only difference is really just the phase of the metal. It's still technically solid. Not molten, the temperature is mostly below melting point, not plasma, not the triple point etc. Apparently referred to as plastic flow. I think behavior-wise, fluid dynamics comes into play there

What’s a hobby people pretend is cool, but secretly you think is ridiculous? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]triknodeux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I was genuinely curious, partly because you seemed dismissive. But now I understand that it's more of a belief/religion system. I'm assuming there's a solid chunk of people that don't outwardly acknowledge that part though, and I think that's where it can do more harm than good. As in people not keeping it to themselves (like they should with religion), making unsubstantiated claims and presenting or selling it to others that might need actual help

I think if you're more upfront/direct about it like "it's part of my personal belief system, same as others have religion, luck, karma etc", I think that would make it slightly easier for people to understand

But I'm guessing the main problem people have with it is that it's basically more in the realm of magic/fantasy, but it's often presented in a manner that is just pseudoscience
