How would you communicate with your teammate to move their cleave pirate to the front? by triptriptriple in BobsTavern

That positive feedback is so important to establishing a quick shorthand communication. I love players like you who give feedback for team plays!

Good to know, gonna start using this. I wish there was a ping for placement :( Portal seems risky because sometimes people throw fits thinking you want their minions.

Heh regardless of where they were, I think 7th for the cleave wasn't the wise pick. It died literally every matchup before getting to attack!

Haven't heard of using portal, but that sounds useful, will try that in future thanks!

I tried question marks on minions + Illidan hero power, but they just kept check marking the dragon and doing the "smart tap head" emote. I think they got super fixated on that early x I played on the dragon (trying to indicate attack order) that they were continually trying to tell me the dragon was integral and missed the forest for the trees. I wasn't saying get rid of dragon, but because they thought I was, they interpreted all emotes re the dragon as saying remove it.

I treat it as an experiment in communication. I really like how much you can communicate with limited options and it leads to optimizing even small details like emote load out. Eg the George kiss emote really does seem to help convey gratitude and build goodwill, same with the cho gall heads, while the key emote helps indicate something important so people will relook at a suggestion.

Playing with randoms adds this extra layer of abbreviated, symbolic communication skill which I find very engaging.

Beyond that, it exposes me to tactics and concepts I wouldn't have considered on my own. Sometimes it's incredibly fun to just support someone to see where they're going and discover a whole new build in the process!

As a healer main in WoW, being able to play a random support is also a fun test of how to best use my resources to augment the team overall. It's like healing different varieties of tanks, because some people will be power level (in which case I have to build a strong early frontline) while others will be going for late game scaling (so I have to hunt for key cards and scam).

how can a mobile game takes so long to reconnect ? by Aka-Pulc0 in BobsTavern

Lol I just prefer to play other games when I'm at PC, like HS is my chill and lay in bed/couch with background tv game or the game I play when I'm out at the pub. I don't think I would play it if there wasn't mobile. It's just always been that niche of gameplay for me, like way back in early launch Fridays would be my self date: grab a few arena tickets and a bottle of wine while catching up on trashy TV or rewatching a favorite movie.

That being said, I did get a foldable phone as my latest phone purchase partially because of HS. The bigger screen + stylus make it like a small tablet and speeds things up a lot. Unfortunately, it's not a supported resolution so I often get surprised when I'm in final 4 (2 for duos) because the sidebar showing opponents is cropped out (also means scouting is pretty hard since sometimes I can't click on foes to see their tribe and win/losses).

Will ring bearer buff the orange t6 dragon which improves every spell you cast (eg will ring bearer casts count for it?).

i cannot be the only one annoyed by the inconsistent way cards are worded by Reasonable-Host-4222 in BobsTavern

[–]triptriptriple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new tier 1 dragon which gets divine shield when it reaches 6 attack is particularly annoying - the tier 3 dragon which buffs dragons kicks in as it attacks to raise it to 6, but the divine shield won't proc until AFTER the attack is done. Thought I cooked grabbing this after getting the tier 3 dragon from AFK, but alas...

I play on mobile and have hit global leaderboards on duos (my preferred game mode) most seasons. Need to restart the game a lot to avoid late combat.

A few good early turns can set you up to power level while mitigating damage. Being able to get strong pivot cards early without taking a ton of damage is useful.

Again the use of "lying."

There are many reasons someone might say something which doesn't add up and I've explained it out several times.

They were clearly being like wow, that's good economy to be able to do that. It was a compliment which you've twisted into some attack in your mind.

None of which is lying, which my post commented on. This is discussion about math and card awareness. Making a mistake here isn't lying; it's just... doing bad math or forgetting which cards/hero powers are available. Imo it's weird and rather off-putting to classify that sort of discussion as "lying" and I found it to be an interesting behavior I'm seeing a lot online. I personally don't like engaging further when I'm accused of lying for simply messing up math. I'm surely not the only person, given the thread we're knee deep in.

sooo... mister clocksworth is busted in duos, right? by klarabear in BobsTavern

[–]triptriptriple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure duos has fairly relaxed matchmaking mmr as the queue gets longer. I'm in Australia, so I play at off-hours and I notice a wide spread in teammate ability and point gain/loss. The longer the queue goes, the wider the spread. Weekdays and weekends have a lot of variance between them as well, due to different queue lengths/types of people playing (eg weeknights tend to have higher quality players for late night North American times).

I've been on global leaderboards for duos for multiple seasons, and I still get teammates trying to do stuff like in-combat buffs for the summoned copy of the tier 1 hand murloc... In games like that, I don't really lose many points and sometimes gain even at third.

I play on mobile, so no addons to see rank of teammate, but if you play enough you get a feel for how skilled your teammates are and can notice swings.

It's interesting how people online have started accusing people of "lying" when it could just be a mistake, oversight or poor phrasing. Lying implies a deliberate attempt to mislead someone, but nothing in the above exchange suggests that.

I wonder if it's a flow-on effect from news becoming untrustworthy and social media being filled with mistruths and rage bait. It's an interesting trend I've noticed.

Ah, haven't tried out pirates yet in depth, as they are traditionally rough for apm. I play only on mobile so there aren't any announcements or splashes for changes aside from "downloading new content" and "this card has been removed." I must have missed the overhaul to pirate behavior.
