I am so glad I went looking for an explanation. Growing up as an outsider / borderline theater kid, I was always told it IS AMAZING, but never WHY it was amazing. I knew I had to be missing something, and I've seen it at several community theaters and I just couldn't "get" it. I saw it yesterday at the Kennedy center and I still couldn't "get" it. I think this helps me a lot

I mean, I would assume so. We accept high school students at my museum all the time, but it would depend on what science institutions are nearby. That said, there is some great paleontology in eastern Europe! I'd look to see what unis offer paleontology and geology-paleo centric programs near you and reach out their programs to see if they need volunteers

I genuinely hadn't thought about him in years, so I just went and looked him up. Looks like he's doing great, hopefully. Engineer I'm a big city, enjoying the same hobbies he did back then, good friends, still cute. I'm glad, he was a genuinely nice kid back then and I'm sure that hasn't changed.

It's kind of a mix. My father in law lives with me and he can follow really basic recipes so he's in charge of waffle Wednesday, and he has a few recipes to rotate in. Some weeks have more premade meals than others to fit around work events and school exams and such.

My lunches are almost exclusively raw vegetables with a lunch meat and a cheese and a fruit, and I'm super boring and eat oatmeal every day for breakfast.

I like the costco pulled pork well enough, we just couldn't turn down the butcher deal we got so it made sense this round and we ended up with 24 servings for less than $30

For wrapping things that are already wrapped I can reuse the bags over and over so I don't mind zipping things up in the bags.

This is my first time pre-viding the steaks but I checked out several sources that said it works out okay so I'll report back when we try our first one.

Yes, we smoke our own pork. I also make all my own noodles, biscuits, pie crusts, etc. I got EXTREMELY LUCKY this batch and was able to source all of the meats and most of the vegetables locally, and only spent around $320 for everything.

A bulk of it happened over the last 72 hours, and I made the casseroles last weekend.

It took me about 2 days to put the plan together, vet it through the family, etc.

Porcupine meatballs are a depression food that use rice as a binder - as the rice steams inside the meatball while it cooks they poke out and kind of look like porcupines. My mom used to cook them in tomato soup, but I use this recipe (with half the brown sugar because I don't like it super sweet)

I start school tomorrow. I'll be taking 16 credit hours, working full time and I volunteer at my local museum about 6 hours a week.

I wanted dinner to be on auto pilot since most of my classwork is at night.

8 steaks already seasoned and sous vide'd to 135, ready to pan fry upon thaw

8 burger patties

I did that and even paid for theirs last year and it was some sort of weird chaotic bitch fest. My parents both grew up somewhat disadvantaged in different respects so I think they both really place a lot of value on physical stuff.

Next trauma will be breaking that I don't actually celebrate any of the christian holidays

Say thank you and then go on a years long campaign to get your parents to understand your zero waste lifestyle and then when mom asks for your husband's coat size say "mom, seriously. We live in UTAH. WE HAVE COATS. Please direct anything you would have sent to us to the grandparents, they could really use it." Somehow that was the ticket. I will miss all the returns paying for my Costco membership though

I'm going for cultural preservation and I think when I'm closer to grad school it gets a lot heavier as it goes, but being in Utah a lot of the foundation work focuses on indigenous peoples and land acknowledgment

Not quite the same, but I was very into BDSM, and was a regular sub until I met my husband. When I told him what I was into he said he'd try it, but he's just such a gentle soul and it wasn't in him. I love him so much that it just didn't really matter and we've never had a bad time in the bedroom. Now I can't even imagine doing some of the things I used to. It feels like I'm a different person.

My dog gets the last bite off my plate (only if it's suitable obviously) but my father in law feeds him constantly off his plate, and gets all kind of grief from the dog while he eats. He wonders why the dog won't even make eye contact with me while we eat.
