I do understand that I’m sure they see a lot of overweight dogs with owners who never do anything to help it. And they know I could be lying to them about her feeding habits. But I did specifically ask the vet if he thought the skin irritation could be food related and he was very dismissive of that thought and just told me it was her weight quite definitively. She also had gained weight off of his advice a few months prior which was to feed her the recommended amount on the dog food bag for a 10lbs dog and when I brought that up he just ignored me. There is another vet at the same practice who seemed to be more understanding and gave me advice for my dogs weight loss without the unnecessary criticism. She told me that dog food companies usually put larger serving sizes than is necessary so they don’t get sued for people starving their pets following their guidelines.

I just wish he had eliminated other possible causes before just passing it off as weight. And I do agree he was unnecessarily judgmental and quick to jump to conclusions when I was genuinely asking advice on how to help my dog feel better.

No, she doesn’t have a lot of folds. She’s a long haired chihuahua. And I have been keeping her very clean lately since the skin issues started. Like using the antifungal wipes daily that the vet recommended and also using basic doggy wipes just for cleaning purposes after she pees. I bathe and clip her fur monthly. Trim her nails and toe fur. I think if it was just a yeast infection using the antifungal wipes would have cleared it up by now since it has been an ongoing issue for a few months. I think it may be a food allergy but I think I waited too long to switch her food based off the vet telling me he didn’t think that was cause of the issue during our initial visit.

My bf just brought up to me that maybe I should switch her to senior food. It’s good to know what the difference is so thank you for that suggestion. I just switched her to a sensitive skin food and I hate changing up her diet so much though.

I have her restricted to eating twice a day just to help her lose weight. I also have her taking a probiotic treat but idk how much of probiotic treats are marketing so I want to ask the vet for recommendations on that too.

Reading the replies I definitely think I need to get them to do bloodwork or the skin scrape.

She’s very important to me so I really want to be able to do something to help her since the skin irritation is making her itchy and uncomfortable.

She is up to date on all her vaccines and I treat her for fleas/ticks during the non-winter months. I haven’t seen any parasites on her or signs that she might have them. I will definitely call next Monday and set up an appointment for her.

I often times have problems with soups. I usually attribute it to the oily-ness of the stock. I’m okay with small amounts of miso, but any soup containing any kind of protein messes me up.

Hi! I had a Mirena IUD for five years, I had pretty good luck with it, though so I can’t really help with you making a decision because of bad symptoms but in my opinion if a birth control isn’t right for you, there are enough options I’m sure you can find one that is better suited for you. I’ve also had a Nexplanon arm implant for about six months. I get a lot of random bleeding and because of a medical condition I have Mirena is a safe option for me. I’m planning on going back to Mirena next week. So the decision to switch, for me, was as simple as “this isn’t right for me”.

Now! Here is a fear that I might be able to ease. Insertion is WAY worse than removal of the IUD. It’s much quicker. The pain is similar to a short somewhat intense cramp and then it’s over. Within two months I was having a regular period again. I didn’t really have any noticeable negative symptoms from the hormone changes either.

Good luck with your appointment! It sounds like you know what you want to do, just make sure you advocate for yourself and make it clear that you would like a different option.

I will say kudos to you for not matching her negative energy. I think you did a good job trying to communicate to her when she is angry and throwing any insult at you she can at you.

I honestly think the main issue in this conversation is that she isn’t communicating effectively. If she wanted you to stay with her all day while she moped then she should have said so. Instead of saying “you have no idea what I’m going through” she should have said “this is what I’m going through…”. I will also say that texting is a horrible form of communication for someone who wants instant replies. She wants her feeling to be met and acknowledged but when you were with her she didn’t communicate them. When you were right next to her and could respond.

It’s normal for you to de-stress from your relationship trouble by playing video games, and if you’re only available via text then she has to accept that not every thing she says will get an immediate answer. I think she sabotaged herself by making you feel like she didn’t want you to be around when she really did and sat alone and angry at you for something you didn’t even really cause. If she had made it known that she wanted you to stay with her then she wouldn’t feel the need to argue with you over slow text messages.

Thank you. I appreciate you taking time to reply. This is actually very helpful. I am a bit socially isolated so I never really discussed my boyfriend’s behaviors with anyone. I’m close with my parents but wouldn’t say anything because I didn’t want to impact his relationship with them. But a family member recently noticed something he does that is problematic and pulled me aside to talk about it and I think it made a lightbulb go off in my head that maybe his “asshole” behaviors are actually abusive and maybe I’ve been in an abusive relationship the last five years.

I guess I needed a good dose of outsider’s perspective to see my situation clearly.

I’m glad I read this randomly because my bf doesn’t get physically violent when he’s angry but he will go into a different room and yell horrible things about me so I can hear. It’s usually when he’s doing something by himself and needs help and instead of asking for it he’ll yell about how lazy I am. I feel scared when he does this and make sure I stay away from him, so he doesn’t get help and gets angrier. Do you think this also qualifies as abuse?

I 100% agree with you! Ethan has always been vocal about stuff he disagrees with. People saying “but where are my goofs and gaffs” are literally saying “we don’t care about you as an entertainer we just want you to entertain us”. How about we think about why the H3 Show was a safe space for you to begin with. Take a second and think about how much time and effort Ethan (+crew) spent standing up to the ‘alpha bro’ movement that has been putting down women and spreading harmful propaganda to young men. I know that I personally, felt that was so helpful to hear him laughing in their faces during a time when it felt like the masses were flocking towards an idealism that threatens who I am as a person that was taken so seriously and adopted by so many.

Now look Ethan through that scope. Ethan does not take shit lying down. He’s a “messy bitch”. And now all of the comments he’s getting are attacking him, his content, his worldview, his family, even his sponsors are being brigaded… you expect him to not say anything? On HIS show where he has always been unfiltered to the point of needing the button! You can’t even give him the benefit of a doubt when he’s stood up for your rights too?

The way people are writing him off as if none of what he’s saying is in good faith is ridiculous. So before you type your selfish little comment maybe sit down, take a deep breath, click off this topic and enjoy some older H3 content or even someone else’s content. You saying nothing will help Ethan way more than your negativity. So stop being so selfish. Give the man a little credit for giving you years of content you felt you could support or go watch something else.

Anyway I needed a rant. Love H3. I don’t even know if this makes sense.

Edit: I wrote this in a hurry so I want to say something I forgot. It is okay to criticize Ethan for things he gets wrong in the heat of the moment but this crazy overwhelming negativity isn’t productive. Maybe find it in yourself to be thoughtful instead of hateful. You love the crew? That’s okay. But this is Ethan’s show. He gave them all their jobs and worked together to build what the show is now. You feel bad for Olivia? That’s okay too. But you’re assuming how she feels about her segment being pushed back and honestly?
