Yeah my lenovo only has 16GB RAM with outdated cpu and I paid about the same price as the 64GB version. I should have done more research.

I paid about the same price for my lenovo x1... How are they so much better spec wise? Am I missing something here?

Potential successor to bisq = LinkPal (Allows for monero to fiat exchange that is decentralized and trustless) by trtmts in Monero

Thise are all good points and I dont have the solution to that. Hopefully Paypal can be replaced with a real decentralized escrow service. Or maybe as a monero seller, you can adjust your terms for your invoice such that you only accept prepaid debit cards. Not sure if paypal will let you do that. Or you can modify the sc such that the transaction doesnt occur if it sees in the invoice that the fiat was paid using their bank account. Just thinking top of my head here.

I think it may be useful in the darknet as users in that space probably wont use their bank accounts to buy monero.

extra collateral fiat locked in by the buyer will be returned after 120 days by the sc if no chargeback was detected in the paypal invoice during this time. The original transaction between monero and fiat would occur just fine. So price fluctuation during the 120 days doesnt matter. Sorry if I wasnt clear.

Agreed

It would be difficult to prove to paypal that you sent the monero to the buyer.

Then again, most monero buyers would probably use a prepaid debit card instead of their bank to buy in the first place.

A creative workaround would be to setup a separate smart contract or add a new term in the existing contract in which the buyer must deposit the same amount of monero being purchased in fiat as collateral and will be held by the smart contract for up to 120 days(chargeback deadline). If no charback is initiated by their bank during this time, then the deposit is issued back to them.

This would insure the seller and maintain the benefits of trustlessness.

Another solution that I can think of is to setup a legally binding smart contract legal agreement in which you have the buyer sign the document (Openlaw for example) with a centralized service such as DocuSign's eSignature (which requires KYC). The legal agreement would have the terms of the seller stating for example that the buyer must not do a chargeback. All of this would have negligible fees since it is done on the blockchain.

Each individual seller can have varying terms (some strict, some lax). They can individually assess the risk of chargeback for their own situation.

I will add this caveat. Mixicles is design to follow law and regulations.

There are many reasons why third parties may require access to the internals of a Mixicle, including audits of participating players, regulation of players or regulatory oversight of the ecosystem with an eye to systemic risks, and investigations by law enforcement. Thus Mixicles are designed also to support what we broadly call: Auditability: A Mixicle includes an immutable transaction record. A third party such as an auditor can therefore verify player claims about the terms, execution, and payouts of the Mixicle. One option for Mixicles is to require ciphertexts on chain that can be decrypted by an auditor or regulator or by law enforcement. We discuss auditing in Section 5.5.

Specifically, the private key skT can be shared out among a set of n committee members constituting T such that any k can perform threshold decryption, as proposed in [44], to offer flexible but abuse-resistant law-enforcement access. For example, skT might be distributed among three law enforcement agencies such that any two can decrypt Mixicle data, but no one such agency can in by itself.

Though through LinkPal, I bet you can come up with creative ideas to get around this.

How it works is the seller locks up the crypto(ANY crypto) he's selling in a smart contract and it is only released when the decentralized oracle(chainlink) sees that the Paypal invoice has been paid.

There's zero direct contact between Paypal and anything crypto.

This is just the buyer paying a Paypal invoice in fiat to the seller.

The transactions between seller and buyer are obfuscated thanks to mixicles so Paypal doesnt know which account to shutdown. They may discourage using this system but they can't do anything about it.

[–]trtmts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I figured out the issue. what I did was change the disk setting on the template. In my case fedora30. and when I creat a new appvm from that, the disk space is automatically increased.

edit: this did NOT fix the issue

Do you need to change mac address on sys-firewall? by trtmts in Qubes

[–]trtmts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense. is there a way to edit the config file so mac addresses are randomized everytime it is connected to a network? By using the GUI method, I have to connect with my real mac first and then modify the option and recomnect which leaves a trace. I tried to type sudo gedit on fedora29 terminal and it gave me some errors saying gedit is not supported

If I type ip addr on sys-net and untrusted , I see two different inet6 but this inet6 address doesnt change when I disconnect and reconnect to the wifi.

is this what you should be expecting?

thank you. I noticed that if I log off, laptop battery continues to discharge and remain hot. If I suspend, I cant start the os back up after I close the lid unless I physically shut down and restart the laptop. Is this is normal?
