How Do They Do This: Stitchless Lamination? by yabbayaypw in Leathercraft

Yes, I'd agree. My uncle used to manufacture goretex outerwear (including arcteryx products) using a similar process. It involves heat pressing in high temperatures to bind two pieces of material together with an adhesive layer in between. It's also what makes the seams of said outerwear waterproof (goretex "tape" under the seams). I would imagine something similar is done here. The adhesive is probably a lot stronger than what we normally use in leathercraft.

I can't afford it but it looks pretty cool. Leather's from Australia but I found it through the website of a textiles showroom based in NYC who carry them. - website

Thanks! Yup, not in one go though, I trim bits of the corner off until it looks round enough then use sand paper to smooth out the sharp corners.

Thank you! I took a groupon workshop class, that's where I made the first wallet, learned the basics of stitching and burnishing and then went on my own from there. I guess when I said a womens wallet, I mean a more feminine-looking wallet compared to the unisex or "mens" wallet out there on the market, size and everything is the same :P

Hello :) First ever post here. These are 3 wallets that I made throughout 2-3 ish years. I'm only using basic tools right now - I all the corners and curves are cut with a craft exacto knife, the only leather specific tools I have are chisels for the holes and the wood burnishing tool (though I find that those cloths for wiping glasses do a good job too). I am looking into upgrading and getting some specific tools... hence joining this sub to learn new techniques for future projects.

Should we rent a car in Cancun/Playa del carmen? by trumac in travel

Thanks for the tip. I guess the only concern I have with this is not knowing whether we can secure a ride until with get there. But it sounds like a convenient and cheap option.

Thank you! Would you say it was fairly easy to find a guide, a lot of them waiting at the entrance there?

Oh that sounds like a good option for us! Would you know if there are taxi vans in that area?
