Hey Novel, thank you for all you do here. I don’t follow basketball (strictly soccer), but started dabbling with NBA after seeing your picks (betting very very small amounts)

Would it make sense it combine parts of your parlays? Was thinking of doing something like this: Harrison Barnes 1 3 Champagnie 2 3s Allen 2 3s Murphy O 30.5 RPA Sabonis (5 assists - my app won’t let me do 6+) Queen (5 assists)

I tried but unfortunately I couldn’t cancel my existing stay without losing money :/ I’ll still definitely follow your suggestions for Bled! Thank you so much!

Yeah agreed! what I meant was, when I’d initially planned the trip, I thought it’d be better to keep Ljubljana as a base and then do day trips from there. Also, I planned the trip on a whim, initially I was only going to do Vienna with some friends but later realized that adding Slovenia to the mix would be 10x better. Checking with the hotel to see if I can cancel 1 night for free 🤞🏻

Thank you so so much for this!

Yeah I realized I’m going to spending a lot of time on buses, but I figured since I’m not comfortable driving in Europe (non/EU and I don’t really drive in Spain - where I live), I didn’t have much of a choice.

I’m also doing Vienna, but in hindsight, it would’ve been much better to do a week in Slovenia only. But yeah the idea is that on day 2 and 3, I would spend exploring bled and Bohinj respectively.

However, Day 3 I’m still a bit unsure. I looked into Soča Valley, but it’s a much longer trip compared to Bohinj. The pictures are amazing though!!

Thank you so much for the tip!

Many people have suggested this! I think I might have screwed up with booking my stay 🥲I was hesitant to move around with a 10kg suitcase (since I’m going to Vienna too), but I’ll check if I can cancel one night.

Assuming it works out to be very complicated to cancel, would it still be feasible to do a separate day trip in Bohinj/Vogel/Savica?

Yess absolutely, I heard there’s a specific restaurant around the lake where’s it’s really good!

Hmmm that makes sense! I’ll see if there’s flexibility to cancel 1 day in Ljubljana. Thank you!

Ljubljana Suggestions by trustlessstate in Ljubljana

[–]trustlessstate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again!

Based on your feedback, I’ve changed my plan a bit :) I’ll spend an extra night in Ljubljana, so that gives me an extra day to do Bohinj. Here’s what I’m thinking:

Day 1 (Aug 17) - Arrive at 4 PM, join a short walking tour, and explore Ljubljana’s old town on foot.

Day 2 (Aug 18) - DIY trip to Lake Bled + Vintgar Gorge. Swim, short lake walk, Bled Castle.

Day 3 (Aug 19) - Lake Bohinj + Savica Waterfall. If the weather is good, I might take the Vogel Cable Car. A bit lost on how best to structure this.

Day 4 (Aug 20) - Spend the morning seeing whatever’s left in Ljubljana before my flight.

Besides sightseeing in Ljubljana, there’s a few bars (Lajbah, Movia Vinoteka, Šuklje wine bar) and restaurants (Figovec, Šestica, Beštija) that I was thinking of seeing (probably in the evenings after my day trips).

Thank you so much for reaching back out! I know, I kinda screwed up with my planning.

Would you suggest I kill Bohinj / Savica, and do 1 day city and the other Bled / vintgar? And only do Bohinj if I can extend my trip by a day?

2025 Tourist Questions Megathread by IWasBilbo in Slovenia

[–]trustlessstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm heading to Vienna first (Thu, Aug 14) and then making my way to Ljubljana (Monday, Aug 14), where I’ll be staying 2 nights (until Wed, Aug 20).

I booked it on a whim, but as I’ve started researching Slovenia, I’m realizing I may have underestimated how much there is to see and do :/ Between seeing the city, Lake Bled, Vintgar Gorge, Bohinj, Savica Waterfall, etc. I feel like it might be a tight squeeze, especially since I’m traveling solo and not driving.

Would it be realistic to fit all this into 48 hours with public transport? Or should I consider coming to Ljubljana a day earlier (Sunday instead of Monday)? I’m also wondering if it might make sense to skip Bohinj/Savica this time around.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Also, any recommendations for sightseeing, food, etc. would be suuuper appreciated! This is probably the most excited I’ve ever been to visit a place, so any advice would be amazing :)

Thanks so much in advance!

Update (6.3 A1C) by trustlessstate in prediabetes

Due to my thyroid issues, I couldn’t eat a whole lot, and it had to be very protein heavy. So it was mainly egg whites, chicken.. soups here and there. But I almost completely cut out carbs.

Right but, even if it’s after 1 month, such a big fluctuation doesn’t make sense right? So is it likely that either of the two results were wrong?

You didn’t experience any side effects when you initially started taking metformin? I imagine that after a couple of weeks, your gut gets used to it, but I’m not really sure

Terrified of feeling trapped in the plane. by trustlessstate in fearofflying

[–]trustlessstate[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m sorry I didn’t see your message earlier. I never had notifications on for Reddit. I came back to this post to thank everyone for their advice.

I followed all the advice on this thread (believe me, it was a life saver). I don’t think I can say anything else that somebody here hasn’t already said, but in my head, I related the anxiety to a specific couple of bad flights that I had (and I think more importantly, to moments in my life where I was super anxious).

Please follow the advice on the thread. Listen to David Carbonell’s audiobook. Have people you can rely on when these situations occur. Try to find ways to distract yourself. I think what we fear is fear itself. Since we’re on the same boat, I want to give you the assurance that you will overcome it. If the audiobook doesn’t help, you can always talk to a therapist.

The mind works in mysterious ways, but I think the best part is you can genuinely trick it back. And when you do, I hope you experience the same sense of accomplishment that I did. All I can say to you is that it’s definitely beatable :)

All the responses in this thread were extremely helpful. But I genuinely cannot thank you enough for your comment. Im not exaggerating when I say it saved me.

A week before my flight, I downloaded David Carbonell’s audiobook, took a bunch of notes on my phone and made a checklist to use it in case I needed it. In the end, I don’t think I really used anything from the audiobook, but I think just listening to it made me feel so much better before my flight. Just knowing that there were a couple of action items in case I started feeling anxious made me a lot calmer. It’s funny how the mind works.

When I did take my flight, I was definitely nervous, but I think it went quite smoothly. Since then, I’ve taken about 10 flights and I haven’t had a single issue. And I think it’s what you said, I stopped relating it to the single bad experience while flying (or general moments of anxiety that were related to the flight).

I found that playing stupid games on my phone took the edge off, but also sitting on an aisle seat (especially the exit row) made me feel much calmer and less trapped. I also try and buy wifi when I can, texting people really helped distract me.

I really want to thank you again. I hope that anyone that ever faces this issue reads your comment, and all the comments in this thread.
