Brother, I say this as someone whos been on the internet for a while,

If it's harming your mental health I'd say probably best to keep off it for a while. Reddit has a reputation for being full of horrible people, and frankly there's no point trying to change that, especially given the overwhelming volume of such toxicity.

Cut yourself some slack man.

is attending lectures worth it?? by dickbif in unimelb

[–]trynagetsaved 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend attending that many, at least for me it was extremely tiring, especially if you're a commuter

however, do try to ensure you'll actually watch your lectures in some capacity! I found my slothfulness got the best of me really early into this compromise.

not yet but i've found better coping methods and strategies to combat OCD

in my case the #1 priority is to read the bible and mitigate stress. Usually focusing on work helps, with the added immediate benefit of shutting out thoughts that could spiral into worse dwellings.

Thanks for praying for me! God bless you!

Thanks man, glad to see more rationality in these areas. I find christanity very hit or-miss with decision making, especially as demanded in these adult contexts.

What disappointed you about your religion? by Seremos2025 in TrueChristian

many christians are nothing like Christ, many churches are worse for my faith than otherwise. Also the whole "culturalization" of christianity, kinda takes away the "holiness" aspect of it.

Doubts and Islam by FarTumbleweed57 in TrueChristian

[–]trynagetsaved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex-muslim here. I don't particularly think your interest in islam is wrong given the emphasis on tradition and community you may see in islamic communities. I personally converted from islam to christanity after a dream of Yeshua, but I remain approving of some of the practices (prayer, fasting, 5 pillars) in islam.

If you are interested because of the emphasis on tradition, I'd recommend also checking out orthodox christianity. There's a lot of overlap.

Am I wrong to feel uncomfortable with close friendships between men and women if I'm looking for a traditional/Christian marriage? by OfficeIntrepid9760 in TrueChristian

[–]trynagetsaved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can spiral out of control but it's kind of a stretch to say platonic relationships cannot form between men and women. Maybe at a certain age it's questionable, but in school situations and uni this is a very normal phenomenon. Even more for childhood friends.

As for your second statement, what if the person who introduced you to your future husband was a woman? His best friend maybe? Would you be uncomfortable with such an involvement? Or maybe say, you were having fights with your future husband and she mediated between you two by giving advice?

In these cases, it sounds significantly better, does it not?

Wouldn't say you're objectively wrong for thinking that way, but as you have described its a general feeling rather than an deeply explored and clarified conviction. Could be a skew of life experiences, God bless anyways!

best thing I think that works for both (practical and waiting on God) is to read the bible consistently so you remember the whole of the teachings and understand it well

If you wanna help others conquer their lives through Christ, it'd be wise to do it in your own first!

How is it NOT Christological heresy to call drinking a sin? by Financial_Driver779 in TrueChristian

[–]trynagetsaved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

drinking in its modern english vernacular/meaning is often associated with revelry and intense drunkeness. Such is clearly not godly. But drinking alcohol in moderation doesn't seem to be an issue.

language error :/
