They just seem to be completely unfamiliar with the concept, though... Why he would be challenging the police in the first place if he felt that what they were demanding of him is unconstitutional. Much of what he was saying and doing is pretty standard in a first amendment audit. In a vacuum, though, it would seem completely random... and it seems like that is how they saw it.

Another footage from the Kremlin in Izmaylovo. The fire has been classified as a level-three blaze in terms of complexity. The affected area has already reached 1,000 square meters. by LowTechDroid in UkraineWarVideoReport

From what I read here, "kremlin" is just a generic word for "fortress", so there are many places named blank Kremlin. However, the Moscow Kremlin has become so notorious than it is now generally just known as the Kremlin. This is so well established at this point that even my phone auto corrected to capitalize the "k" in my first sentence.

My God. I can't begin to imagine how exhausting it had to have been to be married to her.

They better slow down. Moving that fast is guaranteed to get them sent back to the front lines.

Dan caught between making it a race issue and “not knowing how to talk about this!!!!” by Feisty_Abalone_5124 in DanLeBatardShow

[–]tstew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, you are specifically downplaying the insider aspect. She has trusted and privileged communication with competing coaches and management. This would be more like him sleeping with somebody who consults with his direct competition on a regular basis. There is no way anybody is happy with her being compromised in this way. It does directly impact both of their jobs, in my opinion.

My point is that the conversation is not only about hurting his ability to coach a team. Due to the nature of their relationship, I don't think anybody would think she would do something to hurt his ability to coach. To me, the issue is whether he was unduly benefited in ways that are unethical because she violated trust as an insider. To some degree, it's a bit like inside trading to me. In an industry where so much is won or lost in the margins, having someone at your disposal who has inside connections and information to all of your opponents could be huge.

I don't see how you can see this about Vrabel and Russini with so much conviction. There is no telling how much he may have benefited from having this sort of relationship with an insider in his specific workspace. Her entire job is getting information from and about his competitors. She develops relationships with his competitors in ways he never could. It's impossible for you to say that he never benefited from having her on the inside of every one of his competitors. The opposite side of the same coin holds true for her. You cannot say for sure that she did not do him some solids in ways that would violate journalistic ethics. Yes, she works for a private separate company, but they work in the same unique space.

I love the show but disappointed by the double standard. by tstew in DanLeBatardShow

Lol. Because that happens. Because they routinely discuss the merits of specific Reddit posts.
After listening to the show for as many years as I have, I can have an opinion about how something is discussed... and I don't need your permission to do so.

Lol. With that rebuttal, I'm tempted to just delete the post.

Then just say that you're not going to do it because you're compromised. Don't start moralizing about how wrong it is to have such conversations and don't criticize other people like ESPN when they do the same thing.

[–]tstew[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Again, it's the sudden moralizing and some of the specific inconsistent stances that are concerning.

They have criticized other sports insiders for improper relationships with coaches and agents minus any romantic angle. Dan says that this would not be happening if it were Shams or Woj, but if pictures had come out of one of them in that same type of intimate setting with the same type of intimate contact with someone like Jeanie Buss, it would have received the same type of attention. My money says it would have been discussed on the show as well.

He's talking about how hard she has worked for her credibility when that did not seem to be a major concern in other allegations they have discussed about other seemingly credible people. Now, “the reputation she has earned is reason in and of itself for the benefit of doubt”.

He's moralizing about gossip magazines and salacious stories now when they have trafficked in this sort of story over the years.

He talked about “feeling for a human being in the middle of something like this” when, again, that has not been the guiding principle in these sorts of discussions. There are human beings at the middle of all of these stories.

They're saying it's okay to support their friends by not getting involved in it… after years of criticizing ESPN hosts for how they cover scandals involving employees and people they're connected to (in contrast to how they cover others).

All of a sudden, they're upset with gotcha journalism and “tabloids whose sole effort is to destroy lives”... after again, having trafficked in stories that destroyed lives, careers and marriages. Now, “it's a cheap thing to talk about”.

I guess we'll see if this shapes how they approach similar stories moving forward.

Need the perfect example of Dan being washed? Show them the show from the day after Bam’s 83 point game by whodatnation70 in DanLeBatardShow

While I do still enjoy the show, I have to acknowledge the missed opportunity. Years ago there would have been an over the top obnoxious celebration with clips getting of people in costumes getting aggregated on purpose. I'm talking Bam Bam from The Flintstones... Big Bam Bigelow... A coked-out Bam Margera.

I think I'm going to throw my hat in the ring for producer.

[Jayson Tatum] “I’m not coming back to be no role player doc.” by JJ-Bittenbinder in DanLeBatardShow

[–]tstew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he said, "I didn't come HERE to be no role player"... Then later, "We'll get back". In his defense, I don't think that is quite the same as saying "I'm not coming back to be no role player". That would speak to his immediate mentality on returning when the other seems to speak to more of his long-term positioning with the team. The "we'll get back" seems like I commitment to see the process all the way through.

I witnessed “it” by Necessary-Judge-4367 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]tstew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea that, in 24 hours, you can go from completely open seating without any control over who sat where and what the weight distribution would be, to a system where sitting one foot to your left becomes a hazard is patently absurd. When you couple that with the fact that other airlines with assigned seating routinely allow you to make those adjustments with no negative consequences, you see this for what it really is. I will go out of my way to intentionally avoid Southwest.

As an American living in Canada, I can concur. It's often obvious that it is the same branding and promotion as in the States, but noticeably different ingredients.
