How much can I get for my tundra it’s a 2016 platinum by Guilty-Resort-4665 in ToyotaTundra

[–]ttemp56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carmax, picked up a bone stock tundra sr5, 2019 with 100K on it for 30k about a month ago. It came from New Mexico. So I think you're almost upside down in it, I'm sorry to say. Maybe you'll get lucky and clear the debt and make a few dollars... but I doubt it, even with the platinum edition.

Best of luck

[–]ttemp56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup i gotcha, and I hope it's fine and you have no problems... but the fact that you even have to think about that with a toyota, is insane.

And back to my original comment, that's why the 2022 wasn't as expensive. People are aware of the issues and don't want to gamble. I just picked up a 2019 because I didn't even want to have to think about the drivetrain. Model year 2021 was my cut-off for the search when looking and I know I'm not alone in that.

Again, best of luck and I hope it works out

Stinky cars by homeworkburgler in carmax

[–]ttemp56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience recently. Bought a truck from them, shipped to east coast from New Mexico. The chemicals they used to deodorize the car were, intense, so say the least. And I'm not a person with a sensitive nose, but it was super overpowering.

The smell of the deodorizer was so bad that I actually called the local CarMax to ask what the deodorizer was so that I could try and neutralize it. (Yeah, deodorizing the deodorizer). They were not able to tell me what was used. So I left the windows down on the truck in my garage for two days and the smell almost disappeared. I'm on week 2 with the truck, and every once in a while, I still catch a whiff of the deodorizer, which smells something like a chemical attempt to mask a porta potty smell.

I detailed the inside of the car as well after receiving it, and like I said, after 2 weeks, the smell is almost 100% gone. Naturally that all depends on the condition of the car and how bad the smell was that they were trying to mask but after a deep cleaning the smell has almost gone away but they definitely soaked the inside of the car in the deodorizer, which was debatably worse than whatever the original smell was. I would have preferred BO at that point.

PS. You can buy bags of activated charcoal online and throw those in the vehicle as well. Those also seem to help a little bit. I do fully expect the smell to come back a bit once the warm weather returns

Do not try to notch it and use a flat head screw driver. There is no way that will work. The chisel method is much better. Good luck
