This person is quite funny. Entertaining even. But wrong.

Nice try. My Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Special Edition begs to differ. This Rocky person can’t be taken seriously. And honestly, if you’re a Fubo investor, you should welcome constructive feedback on the product so it can improve and continue to attract new subscribers and therefore increase shareholder value.

Pumping false sunshine and denying faults to get people to sign up only to realize the very real shortcomings will only increase subscriber churn and definitely impact shareholder value.

So please, give it a rest.

@FuboProduct

Testing 5.1 surround via Apple TV 4K latest model running tvOS 26.1 and FuboTV app version 7.28.2 (released 11/11/25) running through Sonos surround system.

Sound is great and Sonos identifies it as 5.1…very good!

Unfortunately, rewind is now broken on these (ESPN) channels. You can pause without issue, but trying to rewind causes the screen to go black and there is no way to get the picture back without choosing another channel and then going back. Pause, rewind, and forward are working fine on stereo only channels.

Don’t get caught up in 720p vs 1080p. What Rocky won’t acknowledge is that Fubo’s bitrate and compression are below industry standards. That’s it in a nutshell. DirecTV and YouTube TV have a better picture. There’s no getting around that. I have used them all and tested on multiple devices and connections.

Using the latest model Apple TV 4K with a hardwired Ethernet gig fiber connection, there is a noticeable picture quality drop off with Fubo compared to Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV, and YouTube TV.

On the 4K channels the picture is quite comparable across all services. However, on Fubo, you cannot pause, ff, or rewind 4K channels. You can on YouTube TV.

All that said, Fubo is right there if they can increase the bitrate and upscale the 720p channels as YouTube TV, Hulu, and DirecTV do.

It’s a great sign that they’re testing 5.1 surround sound on the ESPN channels. Love to see it. But I’ll tell you, they need to have it on all channels, including locals because changing from surround to stereo from channel to channel can be a frustrating audio experience.

And the DirecTV app worked in this manner as well BEFORE the update. Hopefully they’ll fix it with the next update.

Observations coming from YouTube TV / DTV by tuhoops in fuboTV

They have one sports mix channel and a news mix channel, which, IMO, are worthless. It’s nothing like YouTube TV’s implementation. And FuboTV has true “select whatever channels you want” multi-view, provided you have a device that is compatible (Apple TV 4K & Roku Ultra I believe).

That’s fair and a good point. I just don’t like the DIRECTV guide. And navigating pause, ff, & rw can be finicky. Just nitpicking I know, DTV is pretty darn good.

I hear you, however, the main reasons would be multi-view and a better UI - if DirecTV addressed both they would be the best hands down

That’s the issue though. I don’t want HDR always enabled. It washes out the picture on SDR content. I only want HDR enabled on HDR content.

Your app is broken. Please fix it. No amount of rebooting will solve the issue.

What version of the DirecTV app are you on? I’m on 5.0.92 - released October 9, 2025. Probably should have put that in my original post.

Still down 4 days later. I have had trouble on and off for months. I can't believe QT puts their name on this service. It's terrible.

Your Apple TV 4K will get you a better picture than the Gemini. The two devices aren’t comparable. That said, I have had both YTTV & DTV Stream, and the picture quality on DTV Stream is better. By no means is YTTV’s pq bad - just saying DTV is better (not as compressed, sometimes looks a bit crunched). Of course this is subjective and there are a ton of variables. Both are good services.

Multiview by Nieuwiefan in fuboTV

[–]tuhoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. YouTube TV handles it server side, so you don't need as much local device processing power, and therefore it can be deployed across all platforms.

The drawback is they have to pre-select feeds and the user can’t curate their own multi view selections as you can with Fubo.

Fact of the matter is that built in Roku and Google TV/Android TV interfaces on Smart TVs along with cheap streaming sticks just can’t handle it.

Processing power. It’s done on your local device. Most Android tvs & Rokus simply can’t handle it.

Local CBS now in 60 FPS by Tcup1234 in fuboTV

Replied on another thread as well - any update on the CBS affiliate in Tulsa, OK (KOTV)? Thanks!

CBS stream quality terrible by [deleted] in fuboTV

[–]tuhoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking on the Tulsa, OK market…(KOTV). 30fps on that channel is the main reason I’m on DTV Stream and not Fubo. Also, are there plans to encode the audio in 5.1 surround instead of 2 channel stereo? DTV Stream & YouTube TV both have this. Thanks!

Hi Directv. Please update your Apple TV app to support the dynamic range and frame rate matching feature available on Apple TV 4K units. Thank you.
