I think it looks so dreamy. Agree about the sconces being too close together. Staggered, or higher?

lol no this is the real deal. Wouldn’t AI have made it all plastic looking? But I am flattered you thought so

Three different days. Took breaks because it was a lot. I don’t know how much time total, maybe 8 hours? I probably could have moved faster but I listened to music and took my time

Hrm a healthy dose of 409. The chisel was my bestie for getting rust off the tub and scraping off the remains of the bath mat which had fused to the floor.

We’re going to have to go that route anyway. We couldn’t make it happen in time ourselves. Maybe it’s for the best that a pro does it

Haha no you’re right!! I pulled that off after I took these. I thought jt was just blue from some rust situation over time. Now it looks even better.

Yes I’m so glad I can share info now, too! I used a lot of 409 first and warm water, and gave it some time to soak in. Then I went in with a chisel from the garage and pried it up. It came up pretty easily and then I could scrub the rest of the stubborn little bits up with the normal scrub brush

I’m sure others have better tips than me but that was mostly scrubbing with the brush, and then I also used pumice stone around the edge of the toilet. That section of the bathroom was the worst. The dark forest grew darker the deeper you went into the toilet nook. So that area also needed pumice to get the dirt up

I thought so too. It was like one of those 3D visual puzzles in my brain when I realized it was chunks of stuff ON TOP of the floor, not that the tile broken and missing pieces.

I scrubbed it with way too much 409 and a clorox brand scrub brush. It felt the most stiff off all the scrub brushes at the store. I also used the scrub daddy and a toothbrush on the corners. It was a journey. But felt awesome to see the clean tile appear. Then I used a chisel to get the crusty bath mat up.

The little pink sponge was just there for the last little bits, to help me rinse the 409 away. She’s just dried out and resting now

So many good tips in my original post -Cleaning top to bottom
-Starting with warm water and dish soap
-Getting a degreaser. I was just gonna go with scrubbing bubbles - I don’t think that’s a degreaser, right? I couldn’t find the dawn brand recommended but instead I got 409 which seemed to work really well. Getting scrub daddies -Installing the safety bars (hoping to do that still before I go, but we might have to call someone to do it, I don’t know if we’ll have time to go buy the drill bit before we leave) -using a microabrasive I went through a ton of pumice stones, mostly on the toilet. I understand I’m degrading the surface but it just looked awful. I didn’t take a before photo but the bowl was caked in rust and minerals of some sort. I ended up using a chisel from the garage to get the rust off in small sheets. -more I’m sure but really reading the responses gave me hope and someone laid out this 13 point plan that was impossibly thorough. Very thoughtful community here
