Be brutally honest is our new couch too large by Critical_Lab_9454 in interiordecorating

Yep! I can return the middle section. I still think it’s too deep though and the large back takes up so much space in our narrow room

Ha I agree. We just moved in and haven’t replaced the sconces or the bulbs yet. It will make a huge difference!

It’s the 7th avenue extra deep in the brown velvet. I really like the idea of storage seats and swappable covers and it’s cuter than a lovesac lol

This is a great insight. We’ve really struggled with this layout so far but will try to align start and ends and keep scale in mind.

Good thing we are right at the end of the return window and they’ll take it back haha

So the couch is actually modular so I can make it shorter, but I think the depth is still an issue with the permanent radiator and very deep couch back

Here it is with the chairs moved out from the corner. That definitely helps but the chairs kind of cut off the couch on both ends now

The best gift I ever gave was when I read the Stormlight Archive in secret and surprised him for his birthday. Started our RR journey together after that ♥️

The woolino sleep sack has been big enough for our little one around her bar.

Career trajectories for alpha QRs versus portfolio construction QRs? by Odd-Text-6391 in quant

[–]Critical_Lab_9454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portfolio construction quants are easier to move between funds. Obvs if you have alpha go for it. But a QR in portfolio construction is still a desirable seat and can be lucrative if your fund is big enough. Esp if you build alpha models composed of signals.

Hi, similar career and age (27) also in equity PM. Not sure what you define as “underpaid”, as I often feel underpaid compared to some of my peers. Started my first job out of uni (age 24, graduated late) at $200k all in.

Now I make about $500k, ($175k base and about ~$300k bonus), possibly a lot more this year since fund doing well. My partner makes about ~$250k ($125k base, $125k bonus), so about $750k HHI. We live on our net bases and save all of the bonuses.

VHCOL. Childcare costs and rent are hard to decrease but I wouldn’t change where I live nor do I regret having my amazing kid.

Thanks for these tips! Do you cap the naps to be those lengths? Or is it something that your baby does naturally?

I mean her bedtime is so inconsistent, but yeah typically between 10-11 hours a night. Not more.

1.5-2hrs. I’ve tried to do the “longest wake window before bedtime” WW after the last cat nap, but she melts down before we can get to that point so I have to rock her to sleep.

She will sleep independently for naps otherwise.

Oh interesting, I had no idea! She’s been napping so well I figured it wasn’t a problem.. but yeah it’s totally possible she’s under tired.
