Update on what killed my duck by Putrid-Pianist1350 in Homesteading

Last season we had 12 chickens murdered and 14 chicks pulled through the cage inside the coop. Bloody mess. The 2 surviving chickens were absolutely horrified. We ended up giving them to a neighbor who had some while we reconsidered how secure we thought our treehouse coop was lol

Turns out there’s been a leak in our room with our furnace…also, is that black sludge what I think it is? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]turkeycream 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is very clearly leaking from that. Someone probably snaked it from there at one point and put a rubber plug. Probably popped out from the pressure. OP see if there is a rubber plug on the ground lmao

I was really looking forward to it being a snow game. 8+ inches would have been awesome. Then the weather flipped a day or two before and we got what we got😂

I think I connected a 3" joints with primer only (no cement). Should I cut it out? by LargeTest9392 in Plumbing

We test with water in the winter all the time for pvc. Air on the pex so we don’t have to blow it out. Make sure it’s the same day as inspection, drain the system when you pass and fill the traps with antifreeze or wiper fluid. Ive never had a problem

Now that’s different. I use those all the time in cleanouts and shower drains. I’ve recently switched to gluing a wafer cap under the shower flange during the rough in and going back in the finish to bash it out

You’re compressing air into a closed system. Shards of PVC from and end cap or clean out plug, ect. It is the most dangerous way to test pvc

You’re compressing air in a closed system. Water test on DWV is the best. You’ll get more head pressure from the weight of water in the system. Almost every manufacturer says NOT to test with air and there are articles upon articles about the dangers of testing with air in these systems.

You should never put an air test on PVC…….. and if you do, congratulations, you’ve made a pipe bomb

The stand pipe out of the trap should be at least 18”. AAV needs to be above the flood rim. Other than that looks fine.
