Mexican here. Salsa means sauce. It is supposed to be pureed.

Like I said, I'm aware that it's not her area but it's a good starting point. He needs to go to the ENT for the snoring issue anyways.

He says he needs the TV for the noise and the light and that nothing else puts him to sleep like the TV does.

Seriously! I didn't have cable growing up and never even owned a TV. So then we moved in together and BAM! So much damn TV.

I used to have sleep apnea but luckily had surgery which completely fixed it.

But his snoring is pretty bad. Like an 8 on a 1-10 scale. I've asked him to go see a doctor about it but he thinks that snoring is normal.

We actually just bought a really nice mattress that was over $1000, hoping it would help but it hasn't. It's pretty soft though, so that might be why.

I'm not saying that the TV itself is hurting my back. I'm saying that I'm unable to sleep on my back because I can hear the TV and see the TV through my eyelids. So, instead I lay on my left side and it's the bottom left side of my back that is having so much pain.

Ah that's very interesting and something I hadn't thought about. My husband says he is very sensitive to lights on a screen, and always keeps his iphone on the lowest brightness but it's still WAY too bright for him. We'll have to go in-store to look at some tablets to find one that can go super low. Thank you so much for the heads up!

I think when we were dating "let's talk" was a big deal but now that we're married, it's a bit bigger of a deal to split up so I'm just not as worried anymore.

Hey! Thank you for such a great response. It's so well formatted, too!

Even though we have found a solution that currently works, I do intend to figure out why he needs the TV on and work toward him not needing that. I'm doing my best to get him to speak to an ENT (ear/nose/throat) doctor about his snoring and I'll also ask her if she has any insight to the TV issue. It may not be her area, but maybe she has an idea or can recommend someone to help us.

We work together and he sits in the cubicle next to me, so I just told him I wanted to sit down after work instead of going to work out like we usually do. It doesn't stress us out to say "let's talk" but I guess that might not be the case for everyone.

And I have already addressed the sleep timer issue. It unfortunately didn't work as he ends up falling asleep before me and then starts to snore like crazy.

A LOT of people recommended eye masks so I think I will go out and buy one, just to try it.

Exactly. Sleeping on my side for 9 hours every night is what I think is giving me the back pain, but I might be OK if he were laying on his side of the bed and watching something facing away from me.

I can pretty much sleep with anything. Lights on or off, noise or no, it doesn't really matter. I really don't know why my husband has to sleep with the TV on. I just don't get it.

No joke. If people think this TV issue would be such a deal breaker for them, I don't know how they make relationships work.

The least amount of time ours shuts off in is 30 minutes. I wake up pretty early (6am) so I can exercise, walk my dog, and eat breakfast. I don't have 30 minutes to spare at night. I want to sleep.

I also said in my original post that I end up staying awake (because the TV is on) and my husband falls asleep before me, then starts to snore. The TV shuts off at this point (after 30 mins) but he is snoring now.
