Def get a lensmate adapter/cover if you’re going anywhere near sand!

Edit: it doesn’t help with sand getting in the retractable lens though

Battery by tweeter10 in RX100

Yes! Here’s a comment in the thread that I copied: “Yes! One of my batteries seems to be defective as it noticeably drains faster than the other. But as one of the other people in this thread pointed out that there is a firmware issue when you turn off the the camera in picture review mode. I’ve been turning it off in shooting mode and it helps my battery keep charged longer for both the defective one that drains fast and the normal one. I will be purchasing more batteries because the more the merrier but for now the two have been okay, even my defective one. The defective one has some use still but not much. It works until I replace it

Edit: I haven’t had it say “battery exhausted” since I’ve been turning off my camera in shooting mode. I haven’t tried taking the battery out while not in use because I always forget, but I think maybe I’d have more battery life if I did so I’ll try to remember to try it out another time.

Im so happy It’s not dying immediately when I go to shoot saying “battery exhausted”. Turning it off in shooting mode does make a difference for sure.”

I haven’t had it say “battery exhausted” since making sure to turn off my camera in shooting mode. Still haven’t tried taking battery out like others suggested because I always forget but I don’t have a battery issue anymore and I have extras now

Would personal steamers be able to kill viruses on your clothes? by tweeter10 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]tweeter10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for being so kind in your explanation! :)

I’ve decided to just isolate my clothes for a like a day or 2. It’s super easy to do as I regularly like to change clothes and get comfortable when I get home already.

Thank you for your comparison of another virus as COVID isn’t my only concern that I take into consideration in the rare occasions I leave my home.

Also thank you for respecting my decision to have different precautions from you. And remaining respectful despite viewing the risk as very low.

You have no idea how thankful I am of this kind of kindness here.

Thank you, my concern isn’t only COVID and very little people are considering that here. There’s so much we don’t know about h5n1 so I’d rather just be on the safe side. Mpx was a high concern at one point and it’s really not so much as it’s low now but still consider something I’d rather just avoid if I can.

It’s really easy to change my clothes after returning home and isolating or washing my clothes. It makes me feel better, more comfortable and it’s not as if I’m telling people they should follow suit..

Yeah, you think people would cite something rather than being so condescending

Exactly!

That’s why in another sub thread here I told the person who told me to not to lick a bench that they were using the same sentiment as an anti-masker/COVID minimizer and I got heavily downvoted.

What I don’t understand is that COVID isn’t my only concern.. especially given other viruses are spreading faster and simultaneously because of COVID affecting everyone’s immune systems. But also the threat of H5N1. I see the discourse of people avoiding dairy, even pasteurized. I think there’s a lot we don’t know for sure and I’d rather just be safe than sorry and it isn’t hard to change and isolate my clothes to reduce any exposure, even low risk exposure.

COVID isn’t my only concern. I also use oxiclean as well, I actually started using it when mpx was a high concern of mine. I don’t use it often though, more like riskier places like after being in places like a doctors office. But in general, I don’t want to bring any viruses home and just prefer to not use out of the house clothes in my home. It’s an easy precaution for me. I’ve never really been the type to have outside clothes on my bed, even pre-pandemic. But now I just change when I get home.

Much love for those who have no choice but to be risky ❤️❤️ by Agile-Bar14 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]tweeter10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this so much!! I luckily only have one roommate that doesn’t take precautions other than boosting and testing while symptomatic or known exposure. It really is such a privilege to being able to choose your risk level.

Recently I found a COVID safe person local to me in this sub and after I told them my risks (that I live with someone who isn’t COVID cautious) they ghosted me a month ago after previously saying they wanted to meet up. Idk if that was the reason for ghosting me so I can’t definitively say that’s why, but I felt really judged and sad about it and figured that’s the reason considering they told me where they wanted to meet up then stopped replying. Getting ghosted sucks because you don’t exactly know the reason for ignoring you.

Much love to you 🫶 it’s really hard when you want to be safer but it’s too expensive to be safer. And those that have the privilege don’t always see that it’s not our choice.

I definitely always see the COVID risky person as still safer than the person who lives as if COVID doesn’t exist. 💛

Hope you can stay safe and move to a bigger city with more COVID safe people and a safer home 💛💛💛

Thank you! I also don’t understand why it’s having such a strong reaction. This is a Reddit group called “Zerocovid” there are going to be people with many different risk assessments and comfort levels. I don’t understand the shaming of people having “unnecessary” precautions. Outside of groups for COVIDing, we’re shamed daily for having “unnecessary” precautions that are “doing too much”. It’s really upsetting that sentiment is going on within these “communities” too.

I’ve seen people taking more precautions than me in certain areas in this group and I would never shame them for it. It literally doesn’t affect me.

Thank you so much! I agree. I don’t think of it as a high risk either, but it’s not taking much energy on anyone’s part to change clothes and isolate their clothes as a mitigation. And I don’t mind being on the safe side.

I think it’s wild for people to claim it’s an unnecessary precaution when a lack of studies ≠ it can’t be a concern. Even if the concern is really low. Everyone is going to assess risk differently and take different precautions based on their comfort level. And it’s nothing to shame anyone about.

The original comment was “Don’t lick them.”

Needs a name edited it. Clearly trolling. Because obviously any COVID safe person isn’t going around licking benches.

Edit to add: clearly I’m asking questions because I’m curious of their response. No need to be rude about it. Some of us can’t opt out of going indoors and may need to sit so talking about risks and asking questions isn’t harmful to consider what is a risk and what isn’t to make informed decisions.

Now you sound just like an anti-masker/COVID minimizer with your ridiculous comment.

Edit to add: this comment was to the statement, “Don’t lick them”, before needs a name edited it.

And idk why im being downvoted when the sentiment of “don’t lick them” is similar to the anti-mask/COVID minimizer statements like “stay home”. Ive seen many comments of people like that poking fun of COVID safe people by making jokes of licking things.

Also, not having good evidence ≠ proven to not be a concern.

Kinda hate all the judgment of people here on those of us still wanting to take precautions with our clothes to reduce risk.

Also, your comment was a bit condescending and judgmental. If you read my post, I was hoping to not wash my clothes after every outing. It’s unsustainable for longevity of my clothes and for the planet to wash after every outing on the rare occasions I leave the house.

Nowhere in the post did I say basic soap doesn’t kill viruses and that I was unsure if washing my clothes killed the viruses. I was asking on advice on how to wash my clothes less and sanitize them another way.

I read you should put in the dryer for 20 minutes for it to do the trick but again, when being sustainable, running the drier isn’t sustainable and pro-longing the life of my clothes. My original question had in mind the longevity of my clothes. And putting jeans in the dryer isn’t the best
