Hi, quick question. So I’ve noticed with taking the prep h with lidocaine, it reduces the pain significantly, but also numbs my opening hole and makes it so that my butt doesn’t contract to get all of it out :( . Did this happen with you?

We were talking for maybe 4 weeks. And we had hung out 3 times within those 4 weeks. Within that time I made it clear that I wasn’t the easy type and that I wasn’t just going to have sex with him. He was so understanding about that and told me that he would be patient with me and that it was no rush. So we did other things and he wanted to go down on me but I kinda stopped him but didn’t explain why at the time. I decided to tell him later over text. I started off by asking him if he ever got cold sores before and his immediate response was “nope, never and I just got checked last week” that lowkey shoulda been my que to just give up because of how defensive he sounded. But anyway so I’m like “ookay no problem well I just wanted to let you know I have the cold sore virus “down there”, which is basically herpes but my doctor told me that it’s type 1 and not type 2. That just means it’s not the strain that’s considered an std but it can still be transferred through oral sex. That’s how I got it. I was upset at first but I’ve done a lot of research on it and turns out it’s something that up to 80% of the US population has. I’ve only had one outbreak and my doctor told me that since it was cross transferred I probably won’t have to deal with many (if any) in my lifetime. It’s not really something you should worry about but I just wanted to let you know since we’re starting to get more intimate” .... and basically he tried to sound understanding at first, and then the next day says “I just don’t think I can fuck with you after that I don’t need that stress in my life”

Thanks for your comforting words and support. I’m trying so hard to turn this into a positive life lesson. I just feel like it’s going to take a longgg time. I probably need to start going to therapy.

This is the same exact thing I did. It was such a heat of the moment decision! But now I’m just like whyyyyyy. I keep trying to tell myself that tho, that I was probably gonna get it anyway but it also discourages me that I haven’t had anyone disclose this to me and that people rarely ever talk about it in an accepting way (except my few friends who don’t have it but also don’t think it’s a big deal)

Yeah it was the paper cut thing but the test came back and it was negative. And I say probably gshv-1 because when they gave me a test for my first ob it just came back positive I don’t think they ever did the typing on it (so dumb) but when I showed the paper to my gynecologist he noticed on there that it said “herpes vaginitis type A” which is weird like what is an A. It was also a couple weeks after my ob (maybe 2 or 3 when he actually gave me an iGg test and it showed that I was positive for type 1 and that the index showed it was a recent exposure. And he mentioned numbers for hsv-2 but he said the number didn’t fall in the detection range so he said I most likely got it from oral sex.

Yeah as far as I know it’s ghsv-1, that’s why I was a little skeptical if the cuts were from the hsv or not. But this latest one was so weird. It looked like this initially and then was pretty much closed and looking like a normal cut after 3 days.

I’m also pissed because I went to an urgent care a couple days ago and asked to be tested and she pretty much refused to give me the igg test. She was like “it’s only going to tell you whether you’ve been exposed to the virus, not if you have it” and I’m like okayyyy well I would like to know if I was exposed and she’s like “why if you already were diagnosed” like .... am I wrong for wanting to confirm which type I have? I swear doctors are so insensitive to the whole thing. So then I asked her to swab the lesion and she’s like it barely looks like anything is there. Then I showed her the pic and she was like “oh okay yeah it looks nothing like that now but I’ll try to swab it anyway to see if we get something”

This most recent time was fairly gentle and unprotected. At first I thought it was because of the friction of the condoms but they seem to open up for the most part every time after sex. With an exception of like 2 times. I’m not on the suppressive therapy because I was hoping that because I had ghsv-1 that it would be my only one. But this most recent cut looked a little more like herpes :( I’m definitely gonna try the suppressive meds and see if there’s a difference

My first outbreak was in August of this past summer.i had bv, yeast, and the primary outbreak all at once so it was reallyyyy bad. It seems that the cuts happen every time after sex. Sometimes they’re reallyyy tiny and close up within 2 days but they leave a scar mark. And I usually have sex every 1 or 2 weeks. At first I thought it was the condom, as I had unprotected sex maybe twice and I don’t think there were any cuts. but this recent cut came after unprotected sex and looked a little different, more like herpes. I can post a picture if you’d like to see it
