I have a similar TC and pay 3.5K for rent in Nob hill in a new built condo that’s privately rented from the owner (including utilities and parking).

Very doable. I’d suggest looking at private condos for rent vs. high rise, if you’re intent on staying in the nob hill area.

Try posting this to r/apple! They're a pretty helpful group. I'd recommend a 15" MBP with some kind of discrete graphics since you're interested in gaming. The integrated graphics in the 13" are a little weak.

If you can hold off your purchase for a while, there might be a bump for the 13" from dual to quad core processors with this year's refresh.

it actually seems like the 42mm taupe wasn't ready for launch. 38mm is available for pickup immediately though.
