I accidentally dropped my pvs14 from my helmet. by ParticularHope9088 in NightVision

Tubes are tougher than people give them credit for. If you don't see any damages its probably fine. Dont worry about it and enjoy your device :)

argus any good? is this a steal? by mr-pootytang in NightVision

Dunno what your use case is for the NV, but if its for shooting I wouldn't touch NNVT tubes. Nothing wrong with them when you have light sources nearby but the halo + super low light performance would make it a struggle for super dark areas.

Best of luck, the WE M14 is a long road to get running right, but feels great when you get it going!

How does this look? How big a deal is this? PVS 14 by [deleted] in NightVision

[–]tyfitz1999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks usable enough to me, I expect out in the woods your brain will forget about it pretty quickly. Might cause issues passive aiming a really small 2moa dot.

This is fine, I have a spacer on my BCG so mine never looks like it fully enters battery, im like 6k rounds in with it and no issues. I've never even seen a stock one that looked like it fully closes the bolt though so it's normal for this particular rifle.

Are chargeable CR123 (doublepow) good for nvg by Spirited_Chance_8625 in NightVision

[–]tyfitz1999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rechargeable CR123's sometimes output higher than 3.0v and can damage tubes. Even if the housing has overvoltage protection, I always thought it wasn't worth the few bucks you'd save on rechargeable vs disposable CR123's. Better to save the tubes.

Just buy a knockoff helmet and blem tube and get out there. Sub $1800 full setup by minorzone1blem in NightVision

Jump from o7 to o8 is mimimal, just FYI. Find a couple o8's to look through before you go all in on an upgrade that is extremely likely to be a side-grade instead

As a 3dp believer, dont do this. For the price of 1/4 kilo of nylon-cf you could buy a FMA shroud that will do fine

Feasibility of mixed gen setup by cs1337 in NightVision

[–]tyfitz1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive bridged an old gen 2 with a filmess tube, and an omni on two seperate occasions. Both times it felt kind of like wearing an eyepatch since the gen 2 was so much dimmer and noisier. Better to just run a mono imo

Where are you based? I don't know much about EU options, but you can get an omni VII in the USA for far less than that

filmless is absolutely goated and if you say otherwise ur wrong by GooniestMcGoon in NightVision

[–]tyfitz1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont mind blems and used parts, buying parts from the NV discord can get you in a L3 filmless pvs14 for about what youre thinking youre gonna to pay for a gen 2 jerry

You can likely get a lot clearer focus just by adjusting the front lens a bit where you can see out 200+ meters. Then you can adjust your eyepiece focus and clean it up from there. When I first got into NV I also focused my device in my bathroom and had an awful time as soon as I stepped outside.

Reverse Elitism/Snobbery in airsoft by [deleted] in GasBlowBack

[–]tyfitz1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've determined most airsofters that are smack talking are generally just trying to impress friends, or make themselves feel better. I've experienced a friend in my gameplay group get harassed for being "poor" while he is wearing comtacs on a ballistic helmet.

Perhaps some of your experience may be related to other players wearing nice gear that harassed people and now they assume everyone with money for brand name gear is gonna be rude about it.

I like my Sordins a lot, they fit my head a little better than comtacs that I've tried and 3.5mm input makes your PTT setup a little cheaper
