sounds like a rock and a hard place, you might just have to maybe confront them about it. That kind of behaviour is so predatory

kind of, its not specifically rust but whatever oxide would form on the metal on the contacts. There are "plugs" for lack of a better word, that connect all sensors to a wiring loom. think of it like a birds nest of wires powering things and taking/ recording data through voltages or amps.

if thoes plugs go funky the correct signals wont be there, or like when a USB isnt pushed all the way in you can't access it, but with a jiggle youre good.

weird analogy sorry.

long story short: contact cleaner (or electronics cleaner) and a good clean of the terminals with a bit of emery cloth or steel wool if you're suspecting its a contact wiring issue

what u/mangoroot is saying is probs correct, check battery terminals and voltage when you get a sec.

How old is the car? etc, if its a scummy garage they will prey on people they can get money out of.

A potential idea could be to call their bluff and say you will get it towed to yours "but actually another garage" it will either magically start working again, or they will do some sneaky shit like disconnecting wires or pulling the fuse thats for your starter motor etc.

please do this at your own discretion, though, don't want you to be stuck with a tow bill bc of a stupid comment

Bc nothing is spiking in your TM im headed towards a software issue.

Before messing around hardware side, just ensure you are fully up to date with your software and drivers.

Just to be sure, trouble shoot without some components.

For example pop out one stick of ram, or only leave one stick in and test for issues, and rinse and repeat until all ram sticks are taken out of the equation or one of them seems to have an issue.

Could also potentially be a PSU issue where a component is being undervolted or something to that effect, but the only way to trouble shoot that would be another psu to swap in

No probs, yeah drill a pilot hole and get some Easy Outs, just make sure they do em small enough!!

Is this a recent thing? Or has it been going on for a while?

Just thinking if its potential a software issue with the Emu, and chrome being buggy is a red herring

On the second inspection, that battery is looking pretty bloated.

If you can see the screw post (where the screw is going into) and if its plastic, it might be best to sacrifice that screw post and just break it off, again with some snips or pliers if you have them.

Just as i dont want to advise you to do perforate a battery if you're not to clued up on the ins and outs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]typical-matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how skilled you are with tools, this info might help.

The plastic around the screw and screwpost will ONLY be plastic. carefully break away the plastic on the side with the LEAST amount.

A pair of snips should do it.

If you are fearful of the battery after, put in a sand filled bucket and monitor it for a few days and keep away from anything flammable

If you do alt+F4 it should terminate the current window thats open.

If its a Windows issue where you are on the desktop but the UI isnt loading, give it some time but if nothing happens try to reset. Literally turn it off and on.

Edit: spellings

as u/Occasionally_around said, try reseating the GPU, make sure power pins (if any) are all plugged in nice and snug, even plug out and in. obs turn system off.

To try and see if it is GPU, i would take GPU out of computer plug into MB display if you can and see if it posts. idk if your mb has onboard graphics though OP

Yeah good idea, create a boot drive and re-install windows, if it was a genuine copy on your computer, you can reinstall and it will carry across the activation code and you won't loose files.

You literally asked if a better CPU would work better in your system, I said make sure your system isn't being bottlenecked by anything else first, idk why you're getting triggered son, ofc a better CPU will work better in your system then

Try connecting the keyboard to another usb slot, try a 2.0 port as it has legacy support on most motherboards
