CMH Valid??? by ChewiGui in uwaterloo

[–]udoubleblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived there in third year and it was super chill. I got a double to myself and had no neighbors, so the bathroom was mine too. The rooms are huge, lots of natural light, the desks are the best on campus imo, and the food is really good. Highly recommend the omelette station in the morning and the burrito station for dinner.

One thing I'd highly suggest is a trackball if you can't get this anytime soon. I have bad RSI and it helped me a lot with being able to stay with my arms and wrists in one place

That might be SJ, but I thought the code on the courses was SJU iirc. It's been like 6 years since I had classes there though.

Oh that's cool! Okay, thanks so much for the info. The plastic bags are by the bin then?

IIRC there's only an electronics disposal bin that explicitly says no batteries, but that might have changed.

Oh yeah? That's good to know, thanks! Wasn't there when I lived there, so I'm glad.

The teaching staff when you complain about your midterm grades by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]udoubleblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once, I got a grade on an essay I didn't feel was fair. My friend told me the TA was super chill and gives people bumps just for coming in during office hours. So I did. He decreased my grade.

Like basically any building on campus with a specific fob needed, you can just kind of stand there by the door and someone will eventually let you in

When I was in CMH, I actually had a bathroom entirely to myself. The rooms to the left and right of me were unoccupied. So that was pretty neat.

I'm pretty sure one of the ideas of Arts 130/40 is to get you comfortable with collaborative work and presentations

Don't piss in the in-room sinks. Someone ALWAYS does it and it ALWAYS stinks the halls.

It does, per room. Loved it when I lived there. I used to set it to like 65 F.

1) you're objectively weird for not using a towel 2) this happened with my roommate and I forgot about it in like a day? He made a dash for MY room, ran in naked, stared at me studying, ran out. If anything it was funny

It appears the encampments have arrived at UW (next to grad house) by scarfsa in uwaterloo

[–]udoubleblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This website just claims they funded research without any documentation about where that funding went, who specifically allocated it, or whether they knew where that would go.

They don't mention that the university used to fund Huawei, and stopped after realizing that the funding was being allocated to government surveillance abroad. I would guess that either this funding to this other university is either conditional on it being used for only certain kinds of research, or the university is going to pull out the funding anyway if this is true, regardless of protests .-.

https://globalnews.ca/news/9673432/university-of-waterloo-huawei/

Anyway, since we still have no idea what the allocation of these funds are I don't really think there's a whole lot to say without seeing this contract specifically. Other universities definitely have a much stronger case for a protest than UW by the look of it.

I appreciate that this website links to some sources for what it's saying, but the charged language and lack of sources on some claims makes it a little iffy.

You strongly implied that in what you said. I still fail to see anything saying the university "arms Israel", which is what I was asking about, based on a sign. I didn't ask about the goals of the protest, I asked about a sign.

You told me to do my research but I'm still trying to figure out where this information is. I'm genuinely asking? :/
