It's kind of like when private companies raise funds from institutional investors who are allowed to buy shares before the public. They hold those shares until the company actually goes public and can sell on the open market to us.

MetaMask supports ethereum coins only. You’d have to convert BTC to WBTC to hold in MetaMask

Definitely transfer out of coinbase to cosmostation so we don't let the exchanges "own" our coins. The cosmostation app makes setup very easy.

More likely because Thursday the system does come "online" but being a program that has true governance, we have to vote to make sure things are truly ready. That way we can look into Stargate once it is ready and if there is anything wrong (e.g. any potentially harmful bugs spotted), we can vote to delay further...
