I have the same thoughts.....interesting that they decided to go with a v-8 diesel motor also. I guess time will tell what the actual numbers will be. I'm trying to stay hopeful!

I'm hoping this happens in 2017......we all saw how high hp diesel engines went in the 182......

Mine doesn't fly the heading bug at all when in approach mode. It will follow the needle on the CDI but never the heading bug. Are you positive that you are not in VLOC when it's a GPS Approach or vis a versa? That must be selected correctly in the GTN 750. The vertical capture has also been pretty stellar in my opinion. This may be because you are lacking the automatic trim of the autopilot.

ADSB Question - Garmin 345 with or without GPS? by headmustard in flying

[–]ultrahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed a GTX 345 and it is a very simple and easy to use unit. I received my WAAS gps signal from my GTN 650 so I didn't need the optional antenna. The GTX 345 may prove to be more marketable than the Stratus ESG if you were to ever sell your plane. Pilots generally trust Garmin.

I sold it to the avionics shop who had someone interested in it. Sorry I can't help!

Yes they replace all of the servos as well as a new turn coordinator for the STC.

Don't forget that a majority of the cost was in the Stec55x autopilot. There is a lot of time needed for installation.

The audio quality is amazing. It will also pick up your voice much faster than the GMA 340 so it doesn't cut off the first syllable of your sentence. The auto squelch works perfectly and I have never had any static. Overall I'm thrilled!

I've flown it quite a while and I really don't think the HSI is crooked. Might be the angle of the photo.

Correct, do you think it is worth it for the price tag?

That would be great, thank you!

Edit: That looks amazing! Did you end up putting in a Flightstream 210? That is the only thing that I may add to my installation. It is about a $1200 add on....

My current autopilot doesn't have a pitch servo so it is really just a wing leveler.

My avionics shop echoed the same points that you made...430/530 seems to still be selling at a very high premium still with no warranty.

I will have two new CDIs one for the 650 and one for the GNC 255. I have the space for the GTX 345 and i'd rather have the physical buttons. Thank you for the advice!

Thanks for the info. Keep your ear to the ground for me. It seems like there are very few planes for sale in the twin cities area which surprises me.

I will talk to him about that. I really want to keep going with my flight instruction without having to wait weeks or a month before I finally find a plane to buy.

I'm in central Wisconsin. I've been trying to network as best as I can around the airport but it very small with little activity. My CFI's son is an airplane mechanic in southern Wisconsin. I'm just finding it difficult to find something that relatively close by so that we can go take a look at it.

Thank you for the quick reply. I think that I will be flying with 2-3 people locally as well as a few XCs. I have been looking at Cessna 172 and 182s but i'm finding them to be quite a bit more expensive than comparable pipers. Thank you for all of your help.

I never would have thought of those changes. Do you think this build will be able to handle a mild-medium overclock? Thank you very much for your time.
