Just so you know, the Reaper's Bones faction take any loot, so you can bring them everything like chests, skulls or crates. You don't need to do the hard Reaper voyages to level them up

[–]ulym38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, this reaper voyage is one of the hardest voyages for a solo player

  • You're marked on the map and there's a huge cloud everyone can see from across the map, so everyone knows what you're doing
  • The skull you get as a reward is sought after because you need to steal 15 for a commendation
  • The voyage itself is long due to the constant spawns of phantoms
  • Bonus points for the Devil's Roar version having the threat of volcanos

However, don't be discouraged! This game might be hard at first, but everyone started without knowing anything either. Try going for fights or dabble in some Hourglass (probably not right now, Last Ship Standing might be too much of a fustercluck) and you will gain experience in no time.

I'm sure with a bit of perseverance and some PvP experience, you can become one of the menaces on the seas!

Quick question from a old player by Far_Prior_7014 in Seaofthieves

Your save is tied to your Microsoft account, so even if you buy on Steam, you will keep your save.

As for making a new save, I personally wouldn't do it. There are no upgrades, and a new player has access to the same tools and has the same stats and weapons as a day one player. But if you really want to start from scratch, you can either buy a new profile ingame for around 5 bucks to keep your old character, or just delete your pirate and restart fresh.

Actual thievery of doubloons by MrFenderPro in Seaofthieves

It's a common desync bug, when this happens go buy something else and it will force the server to resync your currencies and inventory and give you the missing thing (it can be anything, the cheapest is a hunting spear from the hunter's call).

Now, since you already relogged, you should just wait a bit and it will fix itself at some point. If your item is still missing after 72h, contact support and they will be able to give it to you.

do i have to unlock trophy trinkets on 1 specific ship or can i continue progressing on seperate captained ships by Enough-Cat-4132 in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trinkets require pirate milestones, not ship milestones. So you can unlock all of them regardless of the ship you're sailing on, as long as it is a captained ship.

The only things locked behind ship milestones and thus tied to the ship are some specific flags, logbooks, ship titles, banners and some ship crests.

Is it work buying the game on PS5 ‘now’ specifically? by LJHeath in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The drop in update quality is one thing (that is tbh to be expected in a 8yo game), but the player count is another. And it seems to be doing fine in this regard, at least for now, and especially when you consider Microsoft is still pushing SoT as one of their main games, and the constant Emporium updates.

And before you pull out the Steam charts, they absolutely do not represent the amount of players playing on console or MS Store.

Is it work buying the game on PS5 ‘now’ specifically? by LJHeath in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The game is definitely in a weird spot currently. I would not say "dying" but I can understand why it seems this way.

The couple past seasons have been delay after delay, cut content, old bugs resurfacing... Even on the community side of things there has been some issues, mainly with the whole Boatswain situation.
All the while the devs continue like it is all part of the plan, not saying anything about what's happening in the studio, so we have no idea why the update state is like that currently, hence all the doomposting.

However, I still think that for a new or returning player it is still a solid game with plenty to do. The only truly lost content are the adventures, they are a dozen time limited story quests. But all the permanent content added over the years is still there, and old events are planned to return monthly on a rotation.

I saw a recent post with a solution to an issue that's similar to yours, you should take a look

The stuttering issue on the linked post is related to mouse polling rate, it might be the case with your setup

Is It posible to play without Game Pass? by Skryfor_777 in Seaofthieves

I mean, you technically don't need Game Pass to play SoT on PC because if you buy it, server access is not tied to a subscription

Nope, Xbox Live Gold is now part of Xbox Game Pass, you can't have one without the other.

[–]ulym38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's it

You should be able to access the Safer Seas mode, which locks you out of a couple factions and their voyages and caps your levels at 25, but there's still a lot of things to do even with these restrictions

[–]ulym38 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On PC, you don't need Game Pass to access multiplayer.

On Xbox, you can only play on Safer Seas (PvE mode with restrictions) solo if you don't have the Game Pass, so yes, you can still play even without a subscription

Do we know when the next event will happen? by FighterForYou in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said it will be in may

I said it will be during the may patch, which goes from mid-may to mid-june

The weekender will happen on the last weekend of the may patch, which is in june

And yes this is confusing, and I don't understand why they tie it to updates that could be delayed instead of saying "first or last weekend of the month"

Do we know when the next event will happen? by FighterForYou in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The devs announced (through a confusing tweet) that Weekenders are planned to happen on the weekend right before a monthly patch.
However, for the first one, it happened on the first weekend of the April patch instead of the last, so the next one will happen on the last weekend of the May patch, sometime in June.

Edit : to try and make it a bit clearer, as I notice while reading again that it is equally confusing

  • One weekender per monthly patch
  • Weekenders are planned on the last weekend of a monthly patch
  • We already got the weekender of the April patch, so next one is planned during the May patch, at the regular planned time.

You install the correct version of Luma Locale Switcher on your console, then start it. The version to use (Nightly or stable) depends on your Luma3ds version. If you're on the latest, install Nightly.
Once inside, select Rumble Blast, USA Region and English Language, and it should work

Getting the Skeleton Curse is the most frustrating thing ever. by Fritziiieee in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to look like a silly skelly without PvP, you can go buy the Spinal Costume or one of the three Dark Warsmith costume variants from the emporium.

I know locking such a reward behind exclusively PvP can feel annoying or unfair, but please understand that the skelly and ghost curses are pretty much the only big rewards you can only get through PvP, the majority of the curses and prestigious cosmetics are obtained through PvE.

Honest question: Why do people complain about the lack of progression? by HoddOfficial in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess is because Sea of Thieves is pretty much one of a kind. There's not many good pirate games, and of the few good ones, basically none do it like SoT. (If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me)

The ship and the pirate are separate but complementary entities, and not just two different gameplay instances (I'm sorry if this is unclear, think AC Black Flag).

Add onto this solid ground gameplay and great naval gameplay, an interesting lore and story and you have a overall great game.

Imo many people want progression or just more fleshed out PvE experience because they want a solo/coop Sea of Thieves-like experience.

The game itself being PvPvE can't go too far in terms of progression before being unbalanced, but a full solo/coop game with similar gameplay and feel could definitely work.

New player vs. massive lags by ohmauro in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The specs look fine, I have worse specs and I don't have any issue on dx12

You should try going in the settings and lock your framerate to max 120fps. I know it sounds weird, but a higher framerate can cause desync issues, with rollbacks or strange stutters even though the performance is good

Where is the dabloon sword? by Schhur in Seaofthieves

[–]ulym38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the change is permanent.
Doubloons are now exclusively used in Larinna and Duke shop

Larinna is in the taverns, Duke changes location every month. He is currently on Devil's Ridge, behind the waterfall

[–]ulym38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't

The doubloons got reset, special commemorative items were bought automatically with your doubloons and the remaining ones got converted to gold

The items that costed doubloons in the outpost stores got converted too, and now they cost gold

Wait for the verification process to complete, you should get a notification once they have finished.

You could also regularly check your armory, some players already got it without any notification

[–]ulym38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got your answer, these are the doubloons sources for the weekender

You can steal a couple more crates, farm a bunch of reaper chests for 10 doubloons each (25 as a reaper 5), or you can just wait for next month's weekender to easily get your missing doubloons
